Keep in touch with newspapers, good magzines, and informative TV shows.
If you have not exhausted your all the three chances then try to have a birds eye view of your optional subjects with slow but continous flow. Remain mentaly prepared for the next attempt and pray for the best results in the current attempt. Improve your communication skills, try to polish your spoken english. Make your hobby to solve some IQ and psychological exercises on certain frequencies. Find one or two good books on psychological test and learn the tricks to solve questions. Make your thinking process positive and constructive in real life in order to succeed in your psychological phase as well. Visit command task related links in this forum and try to relate these command tasks with the daily life expereinces and observe Media reports to gain practical hints from serving CSS officers and technocrats to resolve these case studies.

Try to get some articles published in some standard newspapers.

@ Kawish.

You should utilise this time in reading books of your interest. Book reading is a useful passtime as it would help you in your interview etc. Plus you must start visiting your relatives, remember as a civil servant you will have to do a lot of travelling and meeting with people. So try to remove such barriers if you have any, because you will have to confront people throughout your career.

If I were you, I would certainly devote my time to creative activities other than just studying. For example, learn playing piano and you will trigger the chords of mind untouched before. Start regular excercize while you have time!
Not only read but write. Write the same essay 20 times with the aim of improving it significantly each time you write it. And MOST OF ALL explore yourself, your interests and you will be more comfortable with yourself!

If I had time, I would write alot. I love writing.

All the Best~

qiute creative indeed.knowing n learning oneself is an essential requirement for a sucessful interview also.but then there s a lot in our lives, beside CSS n its prep. but at the same time our primary concern have to be the same coz this phase of life is called criticle for a particular thing w/h for CSS candidates is its prep ...i myself is an eager writer, though my areas of interests have seldom been the similiar of what is the requirement of CSS,so i would appriciate if i can have other ideas for writing in addition to that of urs.i personally want to begin w/ some article.it ll be encouraging if dear members share thier ideas reg the topic.

@ Kawish

The trick is not to write about a specific topic, but write about any topic that you read. For example, you read something 12 pages long then you must write a short summary of about atleast 2 pages. Then you have to examine it critically, marking the areas which need improvement.

How it will be helpful:
--> You will developing good brainstorming tricks thus your writing will contain novel ideas and unique vision
--> You will gain insight in the areas that need improvement e.g. grammer, sentence clarity, meaningful sentences etc etc.

Ofcourse, the final step is to send your writing to someone for critical analysis, preferably some experienced person. Remember, fresh eyes are important and they pick mistakes that we often overlook in oour own writing.

I hope this helps.

All the Best~
