There should be no quota for girls in medical colleges because girls have right to choose their career according to their own choice,in majority of the cases girls continue their private practices even after their marriages...the number of boys in medical colleges are decreasing day by day, just because boys are not so hardworking like girls boys prefer to do something else rather than studying long hours and prepare themselves for class tests, ward tests etc.Have you noticed that most of the young male doctors are joining civil service of Pakistan, after joining this, they have to leave their medical profession so in this way, boys are also wasting govt resouces like those girls who could not continue their practices after their marriages...matter should be resolved by mutual co-operation..govt should give more and more facilities to doctors,so that they would prefer to do something in their medical fields..husbands should also encourage to their doc wives to continue their practices...it will help in many ways..

The monopoly of female doctors is in gynaecology. One of my friends is MBBS doctor and anesthetist. He says that this is an alarming situation that we have girls and only girls in this field. They even don't know the Bishop Score.
Many times he is called for anesthesia by the female doctors yelling on phones "hurry up the patient is serious".
When he enters in OT, there is normal delivery.
Then he yells on them ' are you doctors , you don't know even the Bishop Score

What do you mean that??????????girls are incapable to join this field???dear, gynaecologist should be a lady doctor...in the remote areas of our country, parents dont allow their daughters or daughter-in-law to go to male doctors...what will you say in this situation???Lady doctors are also intelligent, but yes, because of this mindset, majority of the girls dont continue their practice after marriages:thinking...(most of the criminal negligence cases are reported against male doctors):thinking

It is correct that very few lady Drs. are in practical fields, which is wastage of limited resourses. I think this situation can be reversed if;
..........the govt allow the posting of them near their home
.......... Their husband and family members encourage them to take a job or start their own practice.
.......... General public pay full respect to them and cooperate with them in discharging their duties.
........... they should have felexable duty hours so that they can also look after their own families.

Btw, i have observed that womenfolk have more integerty and honesty while in service and i always prefer a lady doctor whenever i have a health related problem.

@Sociologist PU

I fully endorse your suggestions. However there are some problems that are faced in medical field that make your suggestions hard to implement, for example:

1. You suggested "the govt allow the posting of them near their home".

It is a difficult, because firstly doctors in general prefer posting in big cities or big hospitals. But there is problem that government don't have much vaccancies. So other option is to post those doctors to rural areas in dispenceries or small health units, which normally doctors avoid, as there is constant struggle among those doctors to get posted in big cities. This phenomena is more problematic for female doctors. Now even if one is living in a rural area, he/she prefer to practice in big cities. Secondly, in the rural areas there is scarcity of necessary medical equipment, thus even if a doctor wants to practice there, it is very difficult for him/her.

Your second and third suggestions are also commendable, however this is a long term phenomena, we have to wait for this.

4. Your fourth suggestion is also good one. But however as you know, most female doctors are gynaecologists, and patients could come any time (pregnancy and delivery related), so she has to come to treat those patients at any hour of the day. However this suggestion could be rationalized (Any lady doctor would suggest much better).

good one

a doctor is a doctor.rule to become a doctor is "once a doctor always a doctor and nothing more".

male/female discrimination does not mean anything for a doctor and this profession.

why girls are increasing in medical colleges?

girls are increasing in almost all institutions except for few ones.

boys prefer easy way to earn. in this profession you have to wait so long and process is low and demands hard work. you will see majority of male students in business and engineering though girls ratio is increasing there too
other problem is 5 year of mbbs,1 year house job ,another at least 5-6 years of specialization and then one doctor can get some stability in life but age at that time is for most of doctors is 34-36.

pre-medical F.Sc and entry test have a shift for last 3-4 years after introduction of more objective types. now merit has risen to new heights.
girls usually are hard working and good at cramming(thats what majority thinks and is a fact to most extent).Fsc marks of girls are good and they easily get seats.

parent now take this profession suitable for girls and provide them with all facilities to get admission like tuitions, books, heavy fee etc.

can girls cope the pressure of this field?
yes and very beautifully and enthusiastically.

but being a soft gender it becomes sometimes difficult.

believe me i can quote here hundreds of example of lady doctors working in all fields of medicine and are successful.

gynaacology is not the only field girls are working in,they are almost in all fields.

problems of girls increase in medical?

majority left profession after marriages or don't go for specialization and thus does not contribute much.

girls cannot and do not want to go to periphery. low income there even male doctor don't want to go

girls have to handle both family/personal life as well professional life.so becomes difficult and they limit their activities at a stage.
can she sacrifice her family life in our community? i think most will not.

gender issue is quite common as it is difficult for a lady doctor to treat males in our community.so practice and option limits them to gynaecology.

girls are also human beings and have every right to take admission in medical college and leave this profession whenever they want to.

every doctor can have patient at any time and has to treat .

but one thing i have noticed is that in panic situations(heavy emergency) it is really difficult for lady doctors to continue.

male doctor can be a gynaecologist and there are. they are best in their field . i know some who started from periphery where no lady doctor is available.

cultural issue or taboos: once you are a doctor ,the patient in front of you is a patient irrespective of ethnicity ,gender, religion and such other discrimination.
should a lady doctor refuse to treat a male patient?
people usually don't prefer to go lady doctors except in case of gynaecology.
lady doctor in other fields are considered dumb.there is also reality in it but its not because of gender, its because of lack of knowledge and its application.
male doctor is always better than a lady doctor(it is becoming a fact)

fixing qouta is not the solution and will not contribute much.
Government has to take many steps as required in other fields.
girls should be motivated and well supported by their families and government to continue their profession as doctors.

MAHA thanks for your suggestions but i differ with you in many ways....its absolutely wrong to say that boys are not hard working...as far as i think many of the boys almost 95 percent opt medicine as their carrier field but i would like to ask you how many girls continue medicine after completion of their MBBS,hardly 20 percent???i think its correct percentage....secondly boys opting fields other than medicine because doctors are paid very low in this field especially in government sector a doctor after completing his MBBS gets only 18000 rupees during his house job and PG TRAINEE gets only19000 even four or 5 years after his MBBS....NOW can a doctor run his family in 19000????even in peripheral areas...its impossible.....in contrast to a doctor a police constable is getting rupees 25000 even he is matric fail......and i hope you will be aware how much a medical student has to study???and as far as a trend of doctors towards authoritative jobs like css is concerned i would like to ask you how many doctors are appearing in css hardly 5 percent per year??and what percentage of girls sits in their homes after doing mbbs??more than 80 percent....so its absolutely unfair to compare both of these....

dear, you are comparing between two-girls&boys-...DEADLYDOCTOR-is right by saying that a "doctor is a doctor...there should be no discrimination between two on the basis of gender...secondly,medical is not a low paid profession, many doctors are doing private practices in their clinics despite having govt jobs...still many young doctors are now css and Pms aspirants..You said only 5%joined civil service of Pakistan..no dear, their number is increasing day by day...you cannot restrict girls to join medical profession just because on the assumption that they would sit at home after the completion of MBBS...many boys doctors who left their career becuase of low salaries also wasted govt resources and medical seat...how you can say that 80%girls sit their homes after completion of MBBS??do you have any authentic source of information or its just your observation??dear, many girls prefer to do private practices after marriage than doing a govt job..my whole cusions and sis are doctors, and they are so much active in their fields,i know how hard to get an admission in medical college as i myself could not get admission in it cz of my low marks in Fsc....

Men and Women can never be equal whatever the field is, i am not focusing on medical. It does not mean that men are superior to women, not at all/

A newly appointed doctor earns 15000/- per month in govt sector.
