Well done Shallowwater for your to Dawn : Why go after govt jobs?
Why go after govt jobs?
Wednesday, 26 May, 2010 MR Shaukat Rizvi seems to be convinced that the government sector is corrupt and dishonest and, therefore, the young Pakistanis must not take government jobs and instead they should search for a job in the private sector. First, it needs to be mentioned that the FPSC, which conducts CSS examinations, strictly adheres to merit in its selection procedure. It’s not child’s play to pass the CSS examinations until and unless someone is really competent. Secondly, if the young Pakistanis would not aspire for government jobs, then who else will? It seems very odd that, on the one hand, it is alleged that there is corruption prevalent in government departments and, on the other hand, it is being said that the younger lot must stay away from the public sector. The change can come only if the youth would step in. Thirdly, Police Service of Pakistan, District Management Group and all other groups that come under the CSS cadre are the most demanding jobs and never easy-going ones. These officers have a big responsibility to shoulder. It is easy to criticise the police but it is very difficult to understand the precarious circumstances in which the police have to perform their duties. One must not forget to pay tribute to the sacrifices made for the homeland by the martyrs whether they belong to the army, the police or any other force. Lastly, Pakistan is passing through turbulent times. If we have to survive as a nation, it is imperative for the younger generation to come forward in this hour of need and join the Civil Service of Pakistan. If earning money is the only objective, then one can work in a multinational or even go abroad, but if one has to serve one’s country, then one must join the pubic sector. It is encouraging that nowadays an increasing number of girls are going for the CSS. SAFDAR JANG Faisalabad http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/...-govt-jobs-650 |

I donot know about Mr.Shallowwater'name, thatswhy its a surprise for me..when I read this letter in Today'Dawn early in the morning, then I fully endorsed the sender'ideas..he is right by saying that all govt departments are not corrupt, and one has to pass CSS for joining Police,DMG or other departments..
