The Marriage System and its outcomes...

Would like all people to put in their comments about the current and (might be) changing system of marriage in pakistan and its results that mostly we are observing in the case of divorce and seperation due to several causes. Is this also the pre-revolution era of wedding acts of our society that will end after opting western culture and ways of marriage and then spending life as they do?

Marriage customs and traditions vary from place to place no doubt but one thing which is really alarming for all of us is the increasing ratio of divorce in contemporary practices. There are numerous reasons behind this issue. People used to demand and expect high amount of dower, lack of understanding between spouses, dominating personalty issues, follow western trends and lot more..
we are following indian culture customs and traditions, show off exibition of wealth is so common...
Relation can be strong through mutual understanding inspite of show off...marriage is a strong bond between two persons. These changes can bring a revolution in society regarding marriage customs one day. we people can save real wisdom behind marriage contract by simplicity.

Institute of marriage is as primitive as man. To live in a society people devised certain rules and methods and marriage is one of them which is purely a secular agreement having nothing to do with religion actually. As far as growing trend of separation and divorces is concerned, it has nothing to do with westernization. it is the outcome of growing awareness of rights and availability of option especially on the part of women. A wrong notion prevails in our society that a successful marriage is the one where spouses are living together and where there are no conflicts and hostilities but this conception is not true. people used to live together in past due to many consideration. women used to suffer the atrocities and harshness of men and in-laws because they had no choice. they were not financially and socially independent, having the pressure of society to live in marriage bond against their will. and myopic people term that as success of marriage. Today's woman is more emancipated. she has full right over her life and if somewhere things do not work she has full religious and legal liberty to get rid of that agreement.

slowly and gradually marriage is proving to be a failed institution ( though some people would disagree using the religion as the instrument of justification) as almost 90% of our men are having extra-marital affairs. and those who do not have any even envy to have one.

Disclaimer: These are my personal views and anyone may disagree.

Well-said by Intelligentgal.:clap

I just want to add that most of the marriages are increasing the number of "emty-shell families" in our society where the husband and wife looks happy to other people but in fact they are not. They are only living togather for the sake of their kids and due to social pressure.

but what about that we are seeing in our universities and institutes, couples sitting all arround, brothers and sisters but then same siblings on date....getting engaged and then breakups...a sexual desire and attraction only is seen, isn't that the culture of west?getting married and then seperation, isn't it done in west? although the women of west have all the rights, she is educated, independent, then why they get married after falling in love and after knowing each other very well and then is divorced....? same is happening here....
