Rechecking of papers should not be limited to recounting
Don't you think that rechecking of marks should Not be limited to just recounting them?..i mean, examiners are humans, and humans are fallible..So, its perfectly logical to assume that mistakes can be committed by examiners while awarding marks....simple mistakes like, for instance: turning over more than one leaf of the answer sheet while checking....dont you think in such a case it would be injustice to the candidate if his marks are just recounted not re-awarded???
waisay what do you think is the raison d'être of this practice?
sheer lethargy, if you ask me...they dont want the whole checking process to consume any more time than it actually does in the first place...if they have efficiently completed the checking process in seven months, then of course, they dont want candidates applying for rechecking to waste their additional couple of months..no matter how solid their case and how valid their argument is..
even if this moot practice continues, at least the candidate should be allowed to see his paper...that might help him to figure out for himself what clicked with the examiner and what didnt...this permission to see might even encourage the examiners to leave tiny comments or suggestions along the margins..like "irrelevant material", "avoid excessive cutting" etc...this feedback would prove beneficial for candidate's next attempt..
Does this make sense? what do you think?
