The big deal you've refered also requires cognitive processing. When you are talking about propaganda, it involves many other factors along with listeninig. You can't claim 'listening' to be the only responsible factor of propaganda. I don't think that one can make people do anything by making them listen. because human are blessed with five basic senses (biologically) so you can't make a person believe to something through only one sense,i.e. hearing. In case a person believes in something only by listening to something, i must say the person doesn't know the use of other senses. You can check the validity of my statement by having a practice of the same,i.e whether you believe on my words or you find out the biological, practical, and logical proof of my say. In a nut shell, only a limited number of people (sample) can be attracted by listening, but not the population as whole. Now 'listening as a big deal' in my opinion. I think a good speaker needs good listening. The opinion, attitude and choice of the person depends on his on preferences, but listening gives him the appropriate way to express himself. A child learns to speak only when he listens to the words. (exception is there if he's some speech disorder). Now let me explain, child speaks the same words as he listens to his parents, but his ideas, thinking, behaving do not always reflect the same ideas, thinking and behaviour of his parents. Listening is the only tool which enables one to express him self / herself verbly. I hope i've cleared the points, if you still think that you'll start believing what women say (without checking the validity of women's point of view) then you better not listen to them. Regards
