Default The Difference Between GT Road & Motorway

Some people might think that difference between motorway and GT road is about road quality but it is more then that as i experienced a few days ago while travelling from Lahore to Islamabad.
It is the difference between Culture, Perception, Attitude and Governance. It shows how good governance can change positively the culture of a society. If you want to see the pakistani people at their best, go to Motorway. Discipline, Integrity, Service, Techonology, Efficiancy and Development all available at motorway.

Now come to GT road. (i returned via GT road) It is the typical pakistani behaviour and culture here, i.e FREE FOR ALL. Bribery, discourtsy, inefficiancy beside with uneven road and unfit vehicles and no rule of Law. The interesting thing is that people travelling on both the roads are same. Sometimes they travel on motorway and sometime on GT road but how suddenly they change when they enter the motorway is quite an interesting phenomenon.

It shows it is not difficult to bring change in society if we provide the necessary conditions and leadership. People travelling at motorway know they will not be spared if they violate any rule and so they are very careful. The same people while travelling on GT road know that nobody will ask them if they break all the traffic rules there so they are not careful there.

I wish we have a same governance level in society like motorway where nobody dare to challenge the LAW. The rule of Law can make us a different society where merit is upheld and people know the violator will be punished.

Well, motorway is an example of good management that is possible in pakistan, it is not part of the paradise. As far as i know, very few such incidents take place on motorway compare to GT road. I remember when the first docity took place on M-2, the then PM Nawaz Sharif ordered the police to trace the culprits within 48 hours. They were traced and he ordered the police to return the looted things to the victims at their homes.
After that nobody dare to commit such a crime and police was also vigilant as they were supposed to trace and return the booty at the victims' doorstep. The point here is GOOD GOVERNANCE, which Pakistan needs badly. I wonder why the present day rulers are so incompetent that they dont know how to bring change in society through good governance.
