KP, Fata celebrate Independence Day with enthusiasm

The 65th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated here with national zeal and enthusiasm in Khyber Pakhtukhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Area (Fata).

The day began with the salute of 21 guns and prayers at mosques for the integrity and solidarity of the country. Three different flag hoisting ceremonies were held at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lanes, Peshawar High Court and University of Peshawar.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtukhwa, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti was the chief guest on the occasion of flag hoisting ceremony at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lanes, Peshawar. Expressing his views on the occasion, Hoti said Sunday that Pakistan was created with matchless struggle and sacrifices by our forefathers. He said it is high time to show unity among our ranks to get rid of the menace of militancy and terrorism and make Pakistan a moderate, progressive and vibrant Muslim welfare state.

He said that Pakistan Independence Day reminds us of the supreme sacrifices by the leaders of Pakistan Movement who created a separate Muslim land for the people of sub-continent. He said today is very auspicious occasion for whole Pakistanis as on this day 65 years ago on 14th August 1947.

The chief minister said the country is currently passing through a difficult time and is confronted with several challenges including terrorism and militancy. He said people of Khyber Pakthunkhwa have rendered great sacrifices during creation of Pakistan and are now giving more sacrifices to protect the country from the menace of terrorism and militancy. He further said it is the spirit of the age that people from every walk of life join hands and extend full support to government to eliminate the scourge of militancy and terrorism.

Hoti said that being a frontline province in war against terrorism, Khyber Pakthunkhwa police and law enforcement agencies have added a new chapter of chivalry and great valour by establishing peace in restive areas. It was due to their supreme sacrifices that peace has been established in Swat valley and writ of government has been established, he added.

Earlier, the chief minister hoisted Pakistan national flag in a colourful ceremony and the national anthem was played. He also visited martyrs monument of KP police and offered Dua for the departed souls. Provincial Ministers, senators, MNAs, MPAs were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice Peshawar High Court, Justice, Ejaz Afzal was the chief guest at the flag hoisting ceremony at high court while Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Azmat Hayat was chief guest at the Independence Day function at University of Peshawar.

This sort of activities cuts no ice with patriotism. In the past we have had off day on 15th august most often , so what should we say that we were celeberating indian independence day? Hoisting the flag may have a concern with national ceremonies but patriotism defines no specific day for the country. Still it is condemned.

Arent we celebrating 64th independence day...? Or was it 65th...?
My calculation said its 64th...

Anyway regarding topic, I must wanted to include that its not the big issue doing flag hoisting on some
particular day, yes we should consider this which flag was raised there, if its of Pakistan than what is
the point in raising this useless issue..

I hav also replied to Geo tv as a feedback on 14th aug coz they also mentioned 65th on their website also(its 64th)...

@hassanshariq & Taimoor Gondal:

damn this luqman... don't trust media anchors...
why they didn't invit ANP leaders? is this make any sense and waw listn to his excuse of not inviting... there were target killing in Karachi but this ghulam media was inviting MQM and always giving them so much credit , no dare to talk against them, even if they hav so many solid proofs with them... Is this journalism? damn

P.S : U shd also not frget the response of other leaders of ANP especially of Shahi syed who said on 14th august "We don't want and trust on celebrations of 14th August fr one day but we want that this day shd hav to be celebrated 265 days and shd hav to be proved with acts not slogans..."

Why ANP was against PAk and what was their philosophy, this is another topic but listn no the scenario is completely changed and they are pro Pakistani in practical and has proved this so many times...They need no justification of their patriotism frm media or any1 else...

@Invincible:

Thanks aloot, of presenting d real pic...

Is this right to celebrate Independence Day with India?
This is against harmony and unity of country.
1st there was difference of celebrating EID and Ramadan and now we are celebrating Independence Day at different days..
Sub-continent got independence on 15th August 1947,..i have read in some article that even after independence(for some years) Pakistanis celebrated independce day on 15th August..Later on,Pakistanis chose to celebrate their independence day on 14th August...i dont Know what is going in the minds of ANP'leaders but perhaps they want to "correct the History"...As a Pakistani I would not appreciate their act.(Lahore Resolution was passed on March 24,but we used to celebrate"Pakistan day"on March 23)..

you are right pakistan and India got independence on 15th august 1947. later on Liaqat Ali khan and other leaders decided to celebrate independence day on 14th august instead of 15th august.
but in current scenario this must be celebrated all over the country at the same day..
