Default My Writings

Hi there!

This is Wish Maker. I am a junior member here. I have been writing on different topics for couple of months now. My writings include some book reviews and few artilces on scio economic challenges faced by our country. Though, some of these have been published on forum but could not get proper attention of the respectable members. It is partly because of my poor space selection on forum and partly because of my stupidtity of not inviting the members for comments.

Now that I have seen one of the forum members has started a thread of publishing her writings and she is getting very constructive comments. I too have decided to publish my work again. In a way i am highly indebted to this gentle lady for instilling a new spirit in me. I might not be able to write an article a day but i would try to write one in a week.

In the end, all the respected forum members are requested to comment on my writings. Maximum regards

Of Poverty & Poor
By: Wish Maker

Whenever I see a poor on my way to university, like many other so called civilized and responsible young citizens of the country, I just cast a glance or two at him or her and walk away. It is not that I am indifferent to them or do not have a soft corner for them. No. Not at all. Do not take me wrong. I do. Though not often, I give them a one or two rupee coin with Jinnah’s wrinkled face on it and say a thank you with a fake smile at the traffic signal for cleaning my car’s wind screen. What else can they expect from me?

Look! I am a time poor guy. I am already over burdened with many other “important things” to do. Tough, there is no use of listing down everything here yet for your satisfaction. Let me share a few with you. First of all, I have a girl friend who loves shopping, eating and parties. She is just crazy about chocolates, balloons, bags and movies. She prefers M.M Aalam road cafes over Moon or Barkat market third class Biryani Houses. Similarly, I have other such constructive activities to spend my pocket money. Above all, I do not think that my help of ten rupees or just a bunch of sympathies are going minimize the sufferings of the poor or to help root out poverty from Pakistan. It is the responsibility of the state to take concrete steps for this to happen.

So, whenever, I have an encounter with a poor person, I do not feel sad. I do not get sentimental. My heart does not bleed and my eyes don’t get wet. And even if it happens, as I mentioned earlier it is not the solution of the problem. The solution lies in taking pragmatic steps to fight it. The solution lies in change - an overall change in the corridors of power. I might sound cynical but as far as the land of the pure is led by crooks and swindlers, the masses are bound to live in the shackles of poverty.

Neat opening

To strike a balance, you could have mentioned one or more "Constructive activities "

That's really nice to see that one is talented and also good at expressing it.Your writing has flavor of a blog that brings up issues in a bit sarcastic way which in turn poke conscience for a moment. Well in middle paragraph you put too much emphasis on 1 activity & tried to put "whole blame" on it It would have come more balanced, had you mentioned some more activities.
In last paragraph at the end you left your reader with a sense of something missing. That was actually ending in hurry. You could have explained what kind of change? How?As you explained GF thingie in detail but not the solution....!
That were some observations(could be wrong) which i hope you would take in positive spirit.Overall, flow in your writing & grip on sentence structure leave a good taste.

Keep it up

Regards

Indeed, a nice and rhythmic write-up but must consider the two important points by pearlys.

Keep it up!
