Tattooed Terrorist

Respect fellow, Can we discuss about the man who was killed in Peshawar Attach; who had a devilish tattoo on his back? On Social media it is being said that militancy of all forms in Pakistan has a foreign involvement. While western media says "tattoo proves nothing". What are you views?

In my opinion tattoos proves a lot. First things first, this tradition of engraving tattoos on human body was given adopted from the Asians and given fame by the westernized use in recent times. Most of the Muslim scholars, belonging to all sects, opine that having a tattoo on the body is Haraam. This is because:

1. It is like imitating non-believers and there are accounts of certain hadiths that posit that disallow it.

"He is not one of us, he who imitates others. Do not imitate either the Jews or the Christians." Abu-Dawd

2. Human body is not one's own to do anything he wants with it. It is a blessing of Allah Almighty entrusted to man. Mutilating, self-hurting or piercing is like you are peculating with His blessing.

3. It is a form of deception as well as unhygienic as it can cause infectious complications.

The tattooing tradition in the US forces is quite an old one. Starting in the early 1900s, US Navy is credited to have introduced this concept. Mostly, the US soldiers engrave their Units/Divisions' insignia over their bodies to depict an extreme allegiance and loyalty to their comrades and country. One of the best example is the use of skulls by the US Marine Corps as well as the SS of the Nazi regime. The basic idea behind both is to show fearlessness, dread and dedication to the cause. To me this skull is not a hint to any devil or devilish practice but to military training and background.

One thing is clear from this tattooed Taliban (if he is a Taliban) that whosoever they are, they are not fighting a war of Islam. The matter should further be probed and results brought in day light.
