Pardoning a RAW Agent
 

I want you people to put forth your views along with the vote.

Islam accentuates on forgiveness. Lets create an example!

Forgiveness will be a plus+point for Pakistan in the peace-process talks.

I totally agree with adil's point that we should set an example by releasing, the aforementioned prisoner,,,,,. But, I must say one thing in this regard... Thousands of innocent Kashmiri youths are imprisoned in the ... Indian jails ....on the fake charges of terrorism,,and India have always declined their release of those youths on every humanitarian forum,,,, As for this RAW's agent is concerned, he was convicted on the basis of unrefutable carges of terrorism and sabotage......
If we compare the situation of this terroist with those Kashmiri youths..then this Indian request could only be regarded as "blackmailing"

I totally disagree to Adil and Nhpaki,Crime is crime,and is forbidden as well as against the laws in all the races and religions,if Sarbajee/Manjit is found guilty he should be hanged.

Nhpaki, first of all, thanks for agreeing. Nowlet me re-state that"we should create an example". Its even a possibility that our amnesty to the spy could result in the emancipation of our Kashmiri brothers. Hanging the guy might deteriorate the peace-process.

Khushal, Islam permits punishment/revenge... but elevates forgiveness. Lets do what pleases God the most!

(Though I understand that if there is no punishment, there is no justice... but lets be kind this time. I believe it will be in national interest)

And as I said ... the amnesty will be a "shoe on India's face". Setting all this aside... marney se kya milega?

if he is convicted of crime and is proved, so he (sarabjeet) must be punished.

where it is written that if a Pakistani is captured it is punished and when an Indian is captured and is proven of guilt it be released.

and look, have any one of you seen the media policy of indian chanells specifically the private ones, intrestingly they have even got the witnesses and once 'the Sahara channel was showing a BSF personnel, who was telling that i was looking at the border, when sarabjeet crossed the border and i tried to stop him but he was very far away from me and was captured by Pakistanis.'

Look, that BSF personnel had seen the incident 12 years ago and even remembered the face of the victim and it is true of the border area that the adjoining regions of about 5 kms on both side is cleared of any of the human activity, though some innocent people are being captured by either side but in my thinking it is not so with regard to the sarabjeet.

so why to forgive him ?

he has killed a number of innocent Pakistanis, it is terrorism !

Nonetheless, the officials in foreign policy, perhaps, would give a green light for his release in view of the friendly air between both countries.

I still laugh at the points his family members have,they say he was over-drunked and crossed athe border by mistake,I wonder how can a DRUNK manage to dodge his Border Security Force while he is not in his senses even.
Secondly,if he is proved to be gulity,it means he did something wrong and did not took pity on the innocent pakistanis so as a reply we must not take pity on him and neglect what the media and his family say about it and (let not believe it when the others say that he was Drunked even when doing those Bomb blasts;) lolz),

Let the example be set by releasing the unlucky fishermen who were caught while raoming into Pakistani water territory, but a criminal and murderer and conspirator should never be forgiven! What will we answer to the many whose family members either died or were disabled by the bombs that Sarabjit blasted??

I agree with most of you, the RAW agent should be punished. The thing is, usually when RAW agents get caught, they are disowned by the agency and left to rot or die in Pakistan, however, this one case is getting quite complicated. First of all, Pakistan should justify what took it sooooooo long to prove his guilt? I mean, it was back in 1990s when the agent killed numerous citizens of Pakistan, what is the reason for this issue being exploited after almost 15 years??? Is this issue just brought forth as an intelligent fooling scheme (IFS is what i call it); That India will be responsible to make a huge issue out of one agent being hanged when his family wants him and on the other hand the president(by force) of Pakistan will pardon him even though a majority in Pakistan does not want him to be pardoned? This would prove that Pakistan and her President in particular is very keen to win india's friendship.

i think this case is quite sensitive after the importance given to it by the media in the light of the ongoing cbm's.but i would like to view the situation in another context.
president musharraf retained the execution orders of those who had planned to murder him couple of years back.now how can a president pardon a man who is responsible for killing many innocent people.i think it would be unfair if he gives in to the media pressure.the man should be executed .thats the only fair thing.
