Default CSS: License to corruption.

" CSS is a big gamble, play it to get rich. if you win, well! you get the license to be corrupt legally. "

These are not my personal interests , nor my intentions. But merely crux of the opinions by few corrupt souls. Am posting to get your intentions behind appearing for CE-2014. Are you also one of those people am0ng many in this forum (yes, I read and heard some very nasty things ) who want to join Pakistan services just to earn haram ?
I totally lost hope lastnite when I read how people plan to enter and for what purposes. Is there really no way an honest person can survive in service once selected? Im really depressed. I dont want to get myself involved in something this threatening for my akhirah. I just want to have a great job and work honestly.

True it is that Civil Service can make a corrupt person rich in years and his coming generation will born with a silver spoon, and and it is also plausible that some people join it with such intentions as to coin money through illicit means and embezzlement of public funds. That's very much true.

BUT my dear that truth does not entail by any means that an honest person can't survive in civil service. If they can get away with being corrupt, you can surely serve being honest provided you want to do your job with rectitude. They are depraved on their own choice, you can be honest on yours.

So my friend there is no compulsion on you to embroil yourself in any immoral act that can ruin your hereafter, if you do, it will be your choice. I have seen many people in civil service who remained upright and impeccable in their heyday and remained so till they bid the service adieu. Be brave and stay resolved that you will have the same scruples when you actually join, otherwise I have seen many demagogues who chant high slogans of honesty but they end up being mere cog in the machine or they find themselves as square peg in round hole and leave the service. So be brave and stay committed.

Best of Luck, our country is in dire need of people like you.

Dear, it seems you have fallen a prey to mediatic reality.Things have changed much.i know dozens of officers personally who have never took even a penny.Dear,no doubt atmosphere is conducive for corrupt officer but trend is changing.Govt. is appointing honest officers at key posts.secondly, if you think everyone comes to join civil service just for the sake of corruption.....You are totally wrong. These are the arguments presented by the people who often say...grapes are sour.

Corruption is not confined to "bribes/rishwat".
There are some other forms of corruption such as :
If one is using govt vehicle for personal use, it is corruption.
If one is using his influence to reduce electricity/gas bill, it is corruption.
Favouring your relatives/friends in govt contracts is corruption.
sometimes, one is forced by the system to adopt corrupt measures.
Keeping in view the present situation of our country, it is very difficult for a civil servant to serve the country honestly.

I truly get your point. People do boost honesty on the surface 0nly at times. However, I assure you, my intention is not to pay my way to hell by scoring high position here. That is the reason I wrote my worry here. People from my surroundings have already begun to secure future favours from me which am politely laughing away so far and ignoring. But a point would come when It would become serious. Suppose, one passes and secures seat with Allah's Mercy, my worry is, how he/she develops skills to stop the corrupt higher ups from manipulating and pressurizing him/her in future during civil service.
Im very stubborn when it comes to right and wrong. Am afraid I will end up having enemies and burdens if things go bad.

I pray may He make css good for me in both the worlds, else give me success elsewhere, where halal prevails.

It would be really great to have an awesome life and facilities which are earned , and not acquired as a part of rishwat. I trust the people who hire us as a civil servant. I respect the code of civil services. They in a way put their trust in us. I just want to punch people who exploit the job later.

I totally agree with sadam and bilal, it is not like that all CSPs are corrupt, there is always a path to truth in shadows of darkness and corruption. You can be that light dear just work hard leave the rest to ALMIGHTY ALLAH.

Regards
Stay Blessed

As i said that it is very difficult to serve honestly but its not impossible.
You'll face difficulties, you may not get promotions in due course of time. You may find yourself lonely sometimes as all the people will be on your "opposite" side but still Almighty ALLAH will be with you.
We have few examples of such officers, whose names will be remembered forever.
Expect the best BUT Prepare yourself for the worst.

Good discussion started by Khanum.

I would like to add that i have served under many CSPs and found most of them corrupt and infact most of the super-corrupt in Pakistan are CSPs. I dont know what happened, the day they get posting, they start walking on the trail of their seniors who trained them how to amass wealth. Their method of corruption are so sophisticated that no NAB no court can detect them. Usually everyone of them has a political figure on their back who helps them getting good posting and help them when they are in trouble due to their corruption. It is mostly true about DMG/POLICE/Inland revenue officers. Even the most honest CSP use gov. vehicles for personal/family use and put some of the office staff at his/her home to serve the family.

In fact, the problem lies in our culture, that encourage such behavior and CSPs have social pressure to do all these wrong things. If they resist, they feel lonely and unfit in the corrupt environment. I think the most successful among them are the ones who devised a middle way to survive and are considered "Good Officers" by the seniors. It means they try their best to avoid corruption but also want to continue their job.
