Keh bohat taweel thay rastay
Keh bari kathin thi raahguzar
Meray humnafs mujhay bhool ja
Mujhay chor day meray humsafar
Main hoon paa shikasta dareeda dil
Mujhay sath lenay ki zid na ker
Na wo walwalay na wo aarzu
Na gham e tarb na gham e mehn
Meray hoslay to buland thay
Magar hadsaat thay dil shikan
Wo nawazishain meray haal per
Wo tashaffiyan ba-lab-e-sukhan
Teri maey bhi saqi buri na thi
Main ne jaam tora hai aadatan
Yehi teergi-e-shab-e-alam
Meri ghumgusar hai dosto
Mujhay ab talash-e-sahar nahi
Mujhay ab naveed-e-sahar na do
Gaye din keh maqtal-o-daar say
Thi hamain umeed-e-hayat-e-nau
Nahi just-o-ju-e-baqa mujhay
So mujhay qaza ki khabar na do
Yeh to qismaton ka tazad tha
Keh naseeb apna bigar gya
Teri aankh tak main nami na thi
Mera dard jaan se guzar gya
Wo jo qehqahon ki talash main
Gham-e-do jahan say guzar gya
Wo jo tha mujassam zindagi
Wo hi shakhs chupkay say mar gya
