کیوں نہ سر پر سحاب ہونا تھا
مصطفیٰ جب خطاب ہونا تھا

! ساکنِ عرش کا زمین پہ عکس
انکا سایہ تو خواب ہونا تھا

جس نے دشمن سلائے زیر تراب
اسکو تو بو تراب ہونا تھا

کہہ دیا جب علی کا بندہ تو پھر
کیا حساب و کتاب ہونا تھا

جنگ جس نے علی سے آ کے لڑی
اسکو زیرِ عتاب ہونا تھا

تھا دعا میں وسیلہ مرسل کا
پھر نہ کیوں مستجاب ہونا تھا

رب سے مانگا بہ ذکر نام علی
رزق پھر بے حساب ہونا تھا

جھوٹ کی عمر سچ کے آنے تک
پھر اسے بے نقاب ہونا تھا

حُر سا ناچیز اور قدومِ امام
اب اسے آفتاب ہونا تھا

اُس دمشقی کپوت سے بیعت
یہ تو قیدی کا خواب ہونا تھا

آبِ کوثر ، علی کی حب، شارب
تم کو یوں کامیاب ہونا تھا
