Wohi aik hurf-e-gumaan hain hum
Khat-e-gumshuda main likhi gaiee
Koi ajnabi si zuban hain hum
Kisi aur khita-e-dard par jo guzar gaya
Usi waqt ki tag-o-taaz ka
Koi be nishan sa nishan hain hum
Kabhi apnay wahimay say nikal k dunia ko dekhain
Tu na khul sakay k kahan hain hum
Meri jaan humari ya dastaan
Isi aasmaan ki chat talay
Isi kahkashaan k darmiyan
Kaiee baar likhi gaiee kaiee bar suni gaiee
Ya hadees nagm-e-bay sada
Kabhi surkh phoolon ki taiz khushbu'on main ruk gaiee
Kabhi aansoon main rawan hwee
Ya woh shame-e-sham-e-wisal ha
Jo tamaam raat jali kabhi
Kabhi aik pal main dhuwan hwee
Kabhi roshni ka yakeen bani
Kabhi teergi ka gumaan hwee
To jo ho gaya usay maan lay
K wo daag wo hain jo saath behroon
K panioon say na dhul sakain gain
Hwa k rastay main urnay walay udas lamhay
Na ruk sakay hain na ruk sakain gain
 K aik tere na manay say
Yeh sheher bhar ki emaraton pe
Jo jalte bujhtay harf pehnay
Shikasta wada latak rahay hain
Na jur sakain gay, na chup sakain gay
Hawa kay raastay main urnay walay udaas pat'tay
Na ruk sakain gay
Tu jo ho gaya hai usay maan lay
