Bright are Thy tresses, brighten them even more
Bright are Thy tresses, brighten them even more, (from Baal-i-Jibreel)
The secret divine my ecstasy has taught
I may convey if I have Gabriel's breath.
What can these stars tell me of my fate?
They are lost themselves in the boundless firmament.
The total absorption of thought and vision is life,
Scattered thought is selfhood's total death.
Pleasures of selfhood are a blessing of God,
Who makes me lose my awareness of myself.
With a pure heart, a noble aim, a poignant soul.
I care not for Solomon's wealth or Plato's thought.
The Prophet's 'Mairaj' has taught me that heaven
Lies within the bounds of human reach.
This universe, perhaps, is yet incomplete,
For I hear repeated sounds of "Be, And It Was."
Thy mind is ruled by the magic of the West,
Thy cure lies in the Fire of Rumi's faith.
It is he who has given my eyes a blissful vision,
It is he who has blessed my soul with light.

Khudi ka sirr-e-nihaaN La ilaha Il Allah
Khudi hai tegh-e-fasaaN, La ilaha Il Allah
The secret of the Self is hid,
In words "No God but He alone".
The Self is just a dull-edged sword,
"No God but He", the grind stone.
Yaur apney "Braheem" ki talaash meiN hai
Sanam-kadah hai jahaaN, La ilaha Il Allah
An Abraham by the age is sought
To break the idols of this Hall:
The avowal of God's Oneness can
Make all these idols headlong fall.
Kiya hai tuney mata'a-e-gharoor ka sauda
Fareb-e-sood-o-ziyaaN! La ilaha Il Allah
A bargain you have struck for goods
Of life, a step, that smacks conceit,
All save the Call "No God but He"
Is merely fraught with fraud and deceit
Yeeh maal-o-daulat-e-dunya, yeh rishta-o-paiwaNd
Butaan-e-wehm-o-gumaaN! La ilaha Il Allah
The wordly wealth and riches too,
Ties of blood and friends a dream
The idols wrought by doubts untrue,
All save God's Oneness empty seem.
Khird hui hai zamaan-o-makaan ki zunaari
Na hai zamaaN, na makaaN! La ilaha Il Allah
The mind has worn the holy thread
Of time and space like pagans all
Though time and space both illusive
"No God but He" is true withal.
Yeh naghma fasl-e-gul-o-laaleh ka nahiN paabaNd
Bahaar ho key khizaaN, La ilaha Il Allah
These melodious songs are not confined
To time when rose and tulip bloom
Whatever the season of year be
"No God but He" must ring till doom.
Agarchey but haiN jama'at ki aasteenoN meiN
Mujhey hai huq'm-e-azaaN, La ilaha Il Allah
Many idols are still concealed
In their sleeves by the Faithful Fold,
I am ordained by Mighty God
To raise the call and be much bold

My contributions follow:
1) "Zabaan say keh bhi diya La Illaha to kya haasil
Dil o nazaar jo Musaalmaan nahi to kuch bhi nahi" !!!
2) "Bulaandi chahiye insaan ki fitraat may paushida
Koi ho bhais laikin shan e sultani nahi jati" !!!
3) "Parwaaz hai dono ka issi aik fizaa may
Kargaz ka jahan aur hai shaheen ka jahhan aur
Alfaaz o maani may taghawat nahi laikin
Mullah ki azaan aur hai Mujahid ki azaan aur" !!!
4) "Hazaaron saal nargis apni baynoori pay roti hai
Bari mushkil say hota hai chaman may deedawar paida" !!!
5) "Chashm mai wa parween hai issi khaak say raushan (ZARB-I-KALIM)
Ye khaak k hai jis ka khazaf zeera der naab
Iss khaak say uthay gain ghawaaz maafi
Jin k liye her behr per aashub hai payab
Jis saaz k naghmon say harat thee dilon may
Mehfil ka wohi saaz hai baygaana mazraab
But khaanay k derwaazay pay sota hai Berhaman
Takdeer ko rota hai Musalmaan teh mehrab
Mashriq say ho bezaar naa Maghrib say hazr ker
Fitrat ka ishaara hai k her shab ko sehr ker" !!!
TRANSLATION:
"This is the land, sole centre of the hopes of the East,
This is the land, watered by Iqbal's tears!
This is the land, light of the ages of the moon and the stars,
Whose shells are precious than the finest pearls!
From this land have emerged those profound thinkers,
For whom every storm tossed ocean is shallow!
The musical strings that warmed assemblies hearts,
Are now,alas,silent and unthrummed!
The Brahman is asleep on the threshold of the temple,
The Muslim laments his fate under the arch of the Mosque!
Turn away neither from the East nor the West,
Because nature beckons you to turn every night into a day" !!!
