One of my classmates would always say something about shahaab; shahaab Saab says,shahaab Saab did that ,shahaab Saab answered that,like all the time,he has company of shahaab.we graduated. Parted our ways, like a natural phenomenon.
I was wandering in some book shop in model town.honestly, I wasn't looking for any book.I came with friends just for watching some beautiful faces.one of my friends said “yeh dekh”,my cousin said “abbe,ye tou Teri khala ki Umar ki ho gi”.....oh no no, “mera mtlb yeh kitab dekh”...when I looked at the book,it didn't fascinate me.the cover looked boring;an old man gazing in air.that moment,taught me,when I conjured later,first lesson(educational lesson) that never judge a book from its cover.when I bought the book named Shahab-naama,my cousin said “mat parh,kitabi keera ban jae ga aur nazar (eyesight) kamzor ho jae gi”.but now I can proudly say that my eyesight improved, not physical but spiritual.
When I read first page,I exclaimed! Wow.I read that book in four days.it is 800 page book,but it captivates you in a manner that you have to postpone your commitments.
Shahab-naama is not a book,it is a complete package. A life, a struggle, a romance, a fiction and much more.
Now,I know that why my college fellow chanted the name of shahaab. I hope that you will also want to know that why friend always quoted shahaab. The book is free available through online sources, so you don't have to go in some book center for “staring”.

I read Shahab nama, although I pronounce it Shuhab Naama,when I was in 8th grade. I have read it too many times after that. It has been my inspiration to be a CSP.

My dad brought this book home and said it is beyond your years, he didn't forbid me he was just being considerate, I was 13.I read the first chapter, Jammu main Plague and I was hooked. I slept with the book, ate with it, took it everywhere. I didn't read this book in 4 days. I am not certain that how long did I take, but by the time I was done the back cover was missing and the binding was coming loose and my father was demanding to know, How I did that? To be honest, I didn't know how. I hadn't even noticed. I have been in love with this book ever since. It is my favorite Urdu Book.

Each and every chapter is filled with many stories but they have depth which draws you in. Whether you're reading it first time or a hundredth time. Theore are so many layers which enable you to understand the personality of the writer. But it also helps you understand yourself.The biting humor of Shuhab is unlike anything I've ever read. It reminds me of Douglas Adams and P.G.Woodehouse (Which was also a recommendation by Mr.Shuhab)

Shuhab is the man I owe so much to. He gave me my love for History as well as the spirit of laughing in the face of peril.

I wish, I demand, I beg each and every single person among you to read it once. I dream of a world in which each and every single person has read Shuhaab Nama. It seems like a much better world.

Better review of Shahab-naama than that of mine.

I have read it twice and the chapter on safr-e-hijaz make me so emotional that I can't describe it in words.
My favourite character in Shahab-naama is servant of Shahab's grandma.his faith in Allah was true.his ‘ajeepha’ (wazeefa) was great.

I didn't read yet but I heard that it's the biography of a former Indian Civil Services (Pakistan Civil Services then). He has unveiled many truths in the book. It touches history, religion, and sufism. One of the finest autobiographies.

Yup! Shahaab remained very close to Ghulam Muhammad and Ayub khan.he had beautifully explained the dark politics after demise of Liaqat Ali khan.

Shahab-Nama is a testimony to the fact that one idealist CAN make a difference in this world of unforgiving realism. It speaks directly to everyone who has ever faced adversity for standing up for their ideals.

It fascinated me because it painted a picture of a man (that too a very real one) who never compromised his integrity and principles, and yet stood tall on the stage of life before falling of curtains, among cheers of fellow spectators―weak-willed ones (like myself) who keep their principles very close to their hearts, yet fail to put them into practice in their respective lives. Shahab is a man we all want to become, but we tend to forget that a "man" of such stature does not come out of a vacuum; that man is MADE out of life-long struggles, perseverance and moral uprightness. Shahb-Nama reminds us of that.

Very beneficial discussion dear guys!! I've also gone through this present (not book) many times, in fact it is a sourse of motivation!! Time I think would be 3am when I was reading its last chapter, I got sentimental to very extent and began to cry even!! This precious present motivates me whenever I get demotivated. Fortunately, recently I've met with a celebrity(an old man of 99 years) who was Trainer of Patwaris and was working under Qudrat Ullah Shahab when the latter was DC Jhang. I asked so much questions about the personality of my spiritual leader, the 'Baba' said, "Shahabnama is only one facet of Qudrat Ullah Shahab personality"
