Well although the matter has been addressed, I'd just like to share my opinion on it. The thing is that the gradual change of the title is built in by default in the vBulletin software being used here so it cannot be changed. It's a standard for all vBulletin discussion boards.

Now the best part is the "Thanked Count". It can be a very good measure of how many useful posts you have on the forum regardless of your membership status. Even if you have posts between 0-99 and your membership status is "Junior Member" or "Member", you can expect to have a very good number of "Thanks" hit on your posts if the posts are worth it. This distinguishes you at the very place, the medals etc come later.

As a personal example I was never concerned about getting any ribbon or other things (I still don't have many) but I was concerned about my thanked count so I tried to post good so as to keep the ratio handsome
