Question What is the meaning and function of Rating?
Dear moderator plz define me the meaning and function of Rating. I see in some websites like youtube, metacafe and CSSFORUM have rating option in some articles have 3,4,5 stars and some have none stars, what is this? and what there usages are and who give this rating title?

Meaning of rating:- A position assigned on a scale; a standing. For instance, at CSS Forum a thread can be rated from the options ranging from terrible to excellent. And stars simply indicate the voted option. 1 star means terrible whereas 5 stars mean excellent.

Function of rating:- To signify the value of the thread.

At the top of every thread there's an option for rating the thread. Any member can vote for the thread as desired.

I hope that explains.
