Member Reputation System

This is just to let you all know that the member reputation is now working. You can use the small reputation button on the top right corner of every post to award the poster some points (negative or positive) for his/her post. You can also leave comments for the post in question.

The rep system is smart enough to deal with all kind of fraud etc..

A new member has a rep power of 1 point. That means that being a new member you can give +1 or -1 to other member. It is not possible to rep someone over and over as this may lead to abuse the system. You need to spread reputation around to at least 20 more members before you can rep the same person again. Quite useful in this case.
You have a single reputation dot (see the image below) and 10 points by default when you register for the first time. Each time someone give you a positive rep, you gain one point. When you reach 100 points, you will have two green reputation dots and on and on. At the same time you gain a rep power of 4 points. Which means that each time you give positive rep to someone, the recipient will gain 4 points and same goes for the negative points.
If you get tons of negative reps, there are chances that your total points fall below 0 points. In this case the reputation dot becomes red instead of green. At the same time, you loose your rep power and your +ive or -ive reputation will not be counted.
Please do not abuse this system. :nono

I would Like to append to to this thread with a short FAQ

What is reputation?
On this forum you may see the little green blocks, the more of these the user has the better 'reputation' they have. People can give other people reputation in two forms, bad rep and good rep.

How much reputation do I start with?
You start with 10 rep points, these can go up quickly if people love ya and can go down if people hate you.

How many rep points do you need to go up to another green box?
0 - 99 remains in ----------- 1 blob
On completion of 100 Points - 2 blob
On completion of 200 Points - 3 blobs
On completion of 300 Points - 4 blobs
On completion of 400 Points - 5 blobs
On completion of 500 Points - 6 blobs
On completion of 700 Points - 7 blobs
On completion of 900 Points - 8 blobs
On completion of 1100 Points - 9 blobs
On completion of 1300 Points - 10 blobs

How many rep points do I need to go into the red?
You can go into the red if you go under 0 rep points, if you do this people might see you as a bad person and might not trust you however if you have proven yourself in the forum you might find people don't take any notice

Can I find out who gave me red or green?
No. If they don't leave their name with the comment, there is not a lot you can do.

I did not do anything to get this Red, can I get it removed?
Simple no. The person gave you a red rep as they think you did something wrong, even if you don't think you did. Once again a single red rep won't make you look bad, if your a good member, most of the other reps you get would be green.

Ok I understand Green & Red but.. GRAY?
Gray is simple, think green as good, red as bad and gray as something that don't effect you. You get gray if someone who has not got enough posts reps you. Gray does not effect your rep images and should be taken as a pinch of salt

Where do I find out how many rep points I have?
Go to your user CP and you will find it there

Can I see all the rep points I ever got and the comments?
No sorry. At the moment the system allows you to show the last 5 rep points, so check often and you should remember the rep you got.

How can I give someone rep?
If you see a post you like or hate and think the poster deserves some rep click the little scales and then choose if you like or hate the post.

Honourable Admin,

All member can leave their comments? i think only few responsible and mature members should be assigned the the responsibility of "Post's Valuation". This free authorization of posts valuation by every member can lead to miscalculation as well as misestimation because everyone has own religious, social and cultural bent. This power will be misused by many members. I hope that it will be reviewed by you.

what?!!!!!

i am astonished at the post of khyber.he opines that only a few priviledged members be given the right to value the posts of the forum members?
now who determines about the few mature and responsible(among a large number of immature and irrsponsible members).
the forum is open to all members and thus gives them an opportunity to make judgement over the information shared.the awards given in this forum do not give any special status or practical benefits to anyone.it is just to boost up the members psycologically.
so creating an elite here would give the sense of there being classes among the members.some mature and responsible and such chosen by some priviledged member of the forum.
plz let us not narrow the horizons of our minds.
virtue is its own reward and vice its own punishment.

Good shot janab administator !!!

I liked this sort of thing in our forum. Now every member is getting an equal chance to judge others. Thats good but i hope that nobody will misuse it. Because its misuse would be more destructive for the reputation of forum members as compared to its use. Hope that we all 'll use it and wont misuse it.

AoA every one,

First of all, i'd like to say thnx to Leonidas.

I think it's good that everyone has the equal right to judge the posts of others, but at the same time i request every one not to misuse the system.

Assalam u Alaikum.

This addition will definitely enhance the functionality of the forum and all the members will have a chance to show their gratitude to the other members by adding the points to their reputation. Every active member here knows how other members are helping each others.
And I do agree with “afrms” that the members here aren’t a bunch of kids for fun. We all have gathered here to get and help others in any way possible. The best judges are the people we interact with so let them decide where each of us stands. Yeah!! but misuse of this function also has to be dealt with, but giving this right to some selective members wont be appropriate and unjust as all members should be treated equal, so any other bright ideas will be more than welcome.

A new innovation and laudable

Its really an appreciating innovation of administration. It will raise the morale of the members who are new to the forum. I also believe that it should be dealt with conscious efforts. There should be no favouritism or liking and merit should be the first preference.

A=o=A,

Respected Brother "Fighter", i appreciate your concerns and respect your opinion but offering you my apologies for not necessairly Concurring with you on this exclusive issue. As regards issue of discrimination then in your paradigm (example and definition) it seems to me that this forum has already been divided amongst different classes or members of different level of intellect and intelligentsia. As study forum has not been made accessible to all members but those who are mature in terms of knowledge and creative perceptual capabilities.

It should not be assumed that there exists any discrimination and polarization among all members but it should be deemed as a mean of inspiration to emabark you on creating capabilities and enhance your level of intellect, so that you may also be included in the list of elite members. As regards your question regarding determining the mature and responsible members then I think all members who are entitled to get an access to study forum, should be authorized to make valuation of different posts.

This system is, of course, very advantageous and valuable but it may bring in its wake many pitfall, e.g., multiple id’s by one member (imposters) , favoritism and unjust valuation owing to member’s personal prejudice.

I support this system but more importantly its fair use. If good use of this system is ensured by all members, then it should be made accessible to all members, else it should be restricted to elite members.

my friend Khyber,
you are right that the forum has already been divided among the classes as there is no access given to the ordinary members to the study forum.
i did not criticize it because this forum has been founded and run by some individuals and thanks to them that it is free to all candidates of css or other ppl.
it would have been a lot better if the study forum was open to all without any discrimination.because if someone with quite low capabilities was not able to share and give something to the intellectuals there atleast they were able to contribute their intellectuality to the common lot.what loss would have occurred to the intellectuals if this study forum could give some benefit to the css aspirants?
in the second para, line first, you say that the intellectual class be not condemned for their exclusive status and study forum because they are there to inspire us .we see their special position and we work hard to become one of them leaving aside the useless common lot where we had been for long!!!and then you say the intellectuals of the study forum should value our comment and give us those most estimated badges!!!
i would like to say that education we have acquired be spread without discrimination.the difference b/w your and my approach is that you want to
say that the discrimination exists here already and it is useful and inspiring.and i would like to say that the discrimination should be stopped, compartmentalization is dangerous for our self and society.if we cant eradicate the evils of the past atleast we can work hard towards creating a new and bright future.
if anyone uses this valuation system for wrong purpose he is defeating his own self!!!
virtue is its own reward, vice its own punishment.
