LLB is sufficient, LLM will help you only in computation of experience in certain law related jobs.

Are you asking about a job generally or a CSS related job?

Dear Farrukh, Assalam u Alaikum Warahamatullahi Wabarakatuh!
Dear, from your post I assume that you are a prospective lawyer, and at present confused about next phase of your education. Dear, I think due to certain reasons I am in a better position to answer your query, I will try to be precise in doing so. Dear, I am a Lawyer and also completed my course work of LLM Corporate Law. From my experience I can tell you that if you want to start your career as a lawyer then there is no need for LLM just LLB is sufficient. There are many eminent lawyers who are just Law Graduates (LLB) still they are considered among the top lawyers of Pakistan. e.g. S.M. Zafar. But Farrukh, as we are living in a time of materialism, where every thing is weighed on its face value rather than its real value, so now degrees do matter. People (Both employers and common people) tend to think that if you have higher qualification and degree you will be more competent (Though in many cases its not the case ), so now people try to get as many degrees as they can to prove them "more intellectual and competent". Though one should study and learn till death but now unfortunately we tend to get only degree rather than knowledge. Anyhow, coming back to your query, one can appear in CSS, and can practice law after LLB, but as I told you that employers now tend to take people with higher degrees, so in certain government and non governmental organizations now LLM is often required to apply. So in this category yes, LLM does come in handy. But in general LLM is a degree of research or educational side, but if one want to be a lawyer in future, then for those who aim for practice Bar at Law (though expensive) but is an appropriate option. But non the less, LLM is a degree of a higher level, so if you have time and money, then its better to do LLM alongside your practice. May Allah SWT help, Bless, Protect, Guide and Forgive us all and our Families. Ameen |

no it is not a substitute of six month experience under a lawyer, LLM is just a degree nothing more in field of law. six month practice is mandatory for obtaining licence from Punjab bar council.

Its a degree equivalent to M.Phil. So you can do LLD after that, i.e. Phd in Law.
Also you can apply, as I described in my earlier post, for number of jobs that require LLM. etc etc. |
