Respected Seniors minimum shorthand speed 100 w.p.m and typing speed 50 w.p.m is required for the post of Assisstant Private Secretaries. what does this mean? I am confused. Your help is appreciated. Thank you

There are many typing speed test websites. You can try any of them. e.g [url]http://typing-speed-test.aoeu.eu/[/url]

For shorthand writing, turn on the TV and tune in to a news program or talk show. Start the stopwatch and begin writing. Write as quickly as you can for 30 seconds or one minute, depending on your ability and confidence level. Transcribe the piece immediately and count how many words you noted down in the allotted time. If you only wrote for 30 seconds, then double the word count to find out your WPM shorthand speed.

Download a typing - tutor program. Most of them are free. They will not only tell you your current speed (in wpm) but will also suggest better typing techniques. Some good programs have excellent typing exercises which can be beneficial.
