Stores and Purchase Department performs same role in Pakistan Railways as Logistics/Supply in any other department. Stores and Purchase is responsible for maintaining rolling stock of Railways. Stores is responsible for warehousing ,stock keeping and issuance while Purchase is responsible for procurement of goods for Pakistan Railways.

Stocks include locomotive spares, carriages(which we usually call coaches) and wagons spares. Raw material required for
manufacturing/fabrication purposes and other goods procured for stations.
