Should I apply in PMA Long course in this case?
SALAM Everyone.
I m a Dental Surgeon and recently have completed my House Job. I had a strong ambition to be a part of Pak Army, but my family wanted to make me a Doctor. At that time I did not have the courage to take my own decision, but now I can. I m a graduate now and I have learned that a 4 year graduate can also apply in Army with max. age limit of 24 years. Fortunately I will be 24 by May 2013. This means I can apply in the Long Course of June 2013. Now should I apply here? Is it better to drop Medical Profession for Army? I also have to look around for my family that will I be able to support my family financially as a 2nd Lt? And Plz tell me about the Stipend they give during Training (I have heard it is around Rs. 25000, is it right?), and also tell about the salaries of 2nd Lt, Lt and Capt. Now Army is my Passion, whereas being a Doctor is a requirement for supporting my Family. I wonder can I support my family well in Army or not. What are your thoughts? Should I stick to my own field and prepare for FCPS exam, or should I apply for Army? Need Help as this is the last chance I have for applying in Army. Thanks. |

I just want to get full knowledge of both sides before taking the final decision. As for medical profession, the 4 year training of FCPS is really challenging, I am still not sure that will I get any salary there or not. Some institutions (mostly in Punjab) claim to give the stipend of Rs. 40000 aprox. but not sure if they give it actually or not as we all know about the strikes of doctors. As far as the private institutions are concerned, some give stipend as low as Rs. 10000, others dont even bother to provide any stipend. How can one spend his studying time like this? If Army gives better salary just after 2 years of PMA training, may be I can lean more towards it. So Plz tell about the salaries of 2nd Lieutenant and Lieutenant also. I have also heard that a 2nd Lt is promoted to Lt just after 6 months. Is it so? Thanks. |

Salaries as 2/L and Liut. are 40K+ ! I Don't know about promotion. ! In my opinion you should contact PA selection center and get information about short service commission as CAPTAIN. Best of Luck ! |
