Flying Officer is higher rank than Pilot Officer. Salary of Flying Officer will be around Rs. 25k + lots of other benefits.

Ops Branch is actually a fighting core and SSC can be turn into PC. The only difference is that SSC Officer will not become Admiral ever. Maximum rank would be Commodore if any one is very efficient.

I do not know that what do you mean by fighting as fighting involves ground jobs as well. If you are working in SPSSC then you can also be the part of fight with helping your fighting branch with your job. You can be the part of them by monitoring enemy activities from Control Room etc.

Yes Omair is right that SPSSC has limited scope of promotion. However, if you are being converted to Permanent Commission then you can have all possibilities but in your own branch.

Short service commission can never be converted into Permanent Commisssion. The maximum rank in Pakistan Navy upto which a SSC officer can reach is Captain (the chances of reaching there are also very bleak).

Usman Cheema Monday, December 20, 2010 02:29 PM

@Muhammad Arif Shah
Brother I have forces background thats why I know the exact situation of SSC officers. You are right in saying that the maximum rank to be reached by these officers is Commander but in some cases they award the rank of Captain on retirement that means that they will give you the rank of Captain just before retirement, practically you can only reach to the rank of Commander.

Hi Usman,
I do not know about Navy but according to my knowledge in Army, SSC can be converted to PC if you appear for ISSB alongwith some other necessary operations. Please correct me if I am wrong.

No brother SSC can not be converted into PC in any of the three forces i.e ARMY, PAF and PAKISTAN NAVY. And officers are inducted through SSC only in NAVY and PAF. In ARMY there is no SSC induction at all.

SSC can be converted into PC, depends upon your performance. In Navy graduates are hired as SSC only, SSC candidates have to clear ISSB as well.
Later after hiring SSC, Navy most of the time converts their status to PC.

but

In Airforce graduates are hired both as SSC and PC. For SSC there is no ISSB. SSC can be converted into PC as well, depends upon your past performance. To convert SSC into PC, Airforce will ask you to clear ISSB...
