Short Service Comission?

What does Short Service Commission mean and how it differs from "general" commission?

Does it mean that after a prescribed (10 years) time, the incumbent would be laid off/seperated from the job?

Is pension being offered to this category?

ahmed470 Monday, June 06, 2011 09:42 AM

It means you are not a permanent employee. You do avail all benefits and even wear uniform till u r in service. Nearly all persons selected on SSC are offered permanent commission. My father joined in SSC and later was offered permanent commission. He is eligible for all benefits inlucding pension.

rose_pak Monday, June 06, 2011 10:52 AM

is there any time period after which they offer permanent commission?

after being offered permanet commission, are SSC personnel eligible for promotion as permanent ones enjoy?

@ Arsl
No ,We should not as it is highly unrecommended anc can cause disqualification but you can prepare yourself by reading these forums and information availble on internet .

Arsl Monday, June 06, 2011 01:45 PM

@Ana
but some bergadiers own academies who teach them. they also offer me to join their academy last time...

Ana Monday, June 06, 2011 01:49 PM

yup, there are acadimies run by retired armed forces personnels.
But i remeber when i appeared for gdp course way back in 2002 ,deputy asked me that have you prepare for any academy ?

If you did prepare then its better to lie.
If they r happy on ur performance and ask you if u have joined any academy just say " Mere walidain ne meri tarbiat hi aisi kee thee".
This happened with a friend and he is in PAF now.

But I think one should not base the foundation of one's career on lies ..
Will you apply in any of the 108 course ?

One should not break the rules by attending academies.
I am planning (after discussing it some persons) to apply. r u?

Arsl Monday, June 06, 2011 09:40 PM

i m on the fence. join or not..?

J.Zaib Monday, June 06, 2011 10:31 PM

The total duration of SPSSC job is around 15 years.

If you are going to apply for SPSSC course then you need not to join any academy. As there is no ISSB involved. Academies mainly focus to prepare for ISSB.
For the rest of written tests, you can qualify easily if you have basic knowledge of your concerned subject & you can manage your time in Intelligence tests.
Psychological tests are similar to psychological tests in ISSB & you can get a good idea by getting some good book on ISSB. No need to join any academy.

Promotions are not so fast as like in permanent commission.
One SPSSC Engineer can go to Air Commodore rarely & Commonly Group Captain if he is able.

Literally no chances of becoming an air comodore. You shud expect ur max rank to be wing commander or group captain if ur lucky

ANY ONE KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of the issb nnot recommended letter, if i have to appear again?? ????????? :-?

paksoldier Saturday, June 11, 2011 10:28 AM

A.O.A
Brother dont worry in this matter, if u have the Full letter (including the acknowledgement letter section) and ur this issb letter is current means u just received it after a recent issb, then post the acknowledgement section to them, BUT if u noticed it after a year just like i did :D
then dont worry just keep the whole letter with u, and at the time of registration for any Force commission (army, paf, navy) u gota need this letter bcaz they require it for previous reference.
there is no issue that u didnt sent the acknowledgement. :pipe
