Agree about exam toughness..
But dear Hassan, what you did jut before the exam day? Why you posted that thread that seats are of such and such value...
I think even if that was will be the case you should not have posted it just prior to exam, after exam there is much time to discuss that ...
it was just a demoralizing thread...
Hope you will take care in future...

About John goes to see his grandfather, I think answer was daily, as present Indefinite tense is also used to denote someone's habit, so I chose daily on this basis...

Well, this is again another example of confusing options...
Question was, watchman courageously __Caught____ thieves who looted the jewelry shop.
Ans:

Underlined words are correct.

Best of luck .

i opted for FORTNIGHTLY

can any body justify how was it a wrong option for that question ?

Daily is a routine....

but fortnightly betokens a trend.
weekly is more confirm trend than daily
Fortnightly is more confirm habit than weekly
and monthy more than fortnightly
annully more than a monthy..
This way..................................

I think "daily" is right option because there should be "Used to" with weekly, fortnightly, monthly.what you say ?

@ Farrah

'Used to' is applied to the action that was a habit in the past and is dead at present.
but a habit that has its origin in the past and is continuing up to date is denoted by present indefinite tense...

So here Present indefinite indicates same kina of habit..

'Fortnightly' would therefore be an appropriate option....
What do you think ?

John goes to his grandfather's house DAILY.

Here is the reason IMHO....

When you use 'goes' or 'go' in a sentence. It denotes a routine, and a routine is always DAILY.

If weekly, monthly, or fortnightly would have been the right choice, then for that, the word 'VISIT' or 'VISITED' has to be used. To explain further, 'goes' signifies a daily routine, but when you 'go' to a place periodically then in essence you are 'visiting' and not 'going'. Therefore the correct choice, i believe was DAILY.

@ Hassan Reza:

I have heard the same as well bro.... seat is for sale (and i think its already been sold) unfortunately. Kya keh saktey hey yaar, anything goes in this corrupt regime.

Present Indefinite tense has a very narrow scope. It cannot absorb the sayings of Weeks, Months or Years. Something, though started in the past, yet is still happening with continuity. Daily befits the above statement bacause it is indicative of some routine work. However, May the fellows who have selected the options other than Daily be also awarded with marks.

The paper was quite tough. Plus there were alot of ambiguities and discrepencies.

Usuassly this happens when the exam is just a file filler and the seat has already been awarded to a pre-selected candidate.

What a shame....

You are right Hassan, we are all living in a fool's paradise to beleive that system errors are not there.
