You will get it. Hard work ultimately pays off.

the website just mentioned by IMBINDAS is http://www.sheir.org/.
Let me just tell you that in the Screening test of IB last year, all the 20 MCQs of EDS were taken from this website without changing the order. Moreover, I will urge all the aspirants to enhance their General Knowledge. Lastly, always pass on what you learn.

Regards.

anyhow, you start with book MCQs of carvan series by ch ahmad najib. while reading that book, you must have internet, try to dig into the history of each and every mcq's. more importantly do regularly consult internet and read random mcq's. thousands of websites are there if you try to search it in google.
the second book you will buy is MCQ's for all by jahangir publisher's written by shahrukh niazi, these book books will be a starter for your concepts.
few websites :
geekmcqs.com
indiabix.com
sheri.org

When you feel you had mastered it all, then i will tell you further steps
Best advice. Sir @imbindas can only guide you, the real preparation had to be done by one's own initiative.

Thank you sir, just out of curiosity, how much time those further steps may require or to be more direct what they actually are? This I'm saying as, quite possibly I as well others seeking this piece of advice may not be able to catch you in the same frame of mind later owing to your various obligations and/or commitments in future course of action.
You may probably guess that many other people are also looking towards further steps onto this path. Looking forward towards your valuable input. Best wishes for your career advancement.

Sometimes you didn't care about the Pay scale, Its the job description that matters.
One of my friend was (BPS-18) lecturer in Govt sector, While he applied for ASI (BPS-09) in police department, got selected, and joined ASI. Currently he is SHO, enjoy perk, privileges and facilities, of which a lecturer can't dream off.

Another colleague, who was Inspector in IB (BPS-16), joined Food grain inspector BPS-09 in food department, because he felt that he can serve himself and his family better in the second job.

Similarly, in my Tehsildar interview, AD industries, AD food department who was going to be promoted as DD food, was also an interview aspirants, this clearly shows that pay scale hardly matters when it comes to jurisdiction ,authority and more importantly , future prospects of a job.

Future is FBR, income tax department, customs, revenue, direct and indirect taxation, excise department!

@Imbindas: Your valuable suggestion needed. Recently, I have been recommended as Social Welfare Officer (BPS-17) by the KP PSC. My documents verification are in process, hopefully I will be posted after Eid. I have also been pre selected for the interview of Appraising and Valuation Officer in FBR. Now I am confused, whether to appear in this interview or not. I would like you to shed some light about both the jobs, so that I may be in a position to make my mind clear whether to appear in the Appraising and Valuation Officer interview or not.

Dear, Social welfare department used to be a workable department in colonial times and in first 10 years of independence. in present times it is not more than a clerical job, with no aims and objectives, ironically it has always shortage of funds and is mostly based on international funds and national charity.
Its logo suggests that "The programmes of social welfare & community development undertaken by the Department of Social Welfare aim at eradicating social evils , from the society, rehabilitation of the disabled and the handicapped, formulation of schemes / programmes directed towards meeting social needs, mitigating sufferings and bringing about cultural and psychological changes and systematic / uniformed socio-economic growth to ensure poverty alleviation."
I had already told the prospects of Evaluation officer. Rest is you choice and also, promotions in both evaluation(customs) and social welfare department are deadly slow.
Eg, you meet someone and introduce yourself as Social welfare officer, i don't think anyone would be impressed and probably ignore you, but If your introduction is like, I am Apprising officer working in customs, now that makes sense, because Custom has different world, thousands of people export and import their shipments on daily basis, and it would be you, to apprise and evaluate these shipments, and without your signature, nobody can move his cargo from the port or dry port, Its a job of great PR, and most importantly, its a very technical job, you can open your own firm of customers facilitation and can earn 0.4-0.5 million per month legal and halal money.

after recent up gradations promotions have become very fast. For instance, post of deputy superintendent has been erased. now inspector will be promoted to superintendent customs which is grade 17. Also, in near future post of superintendent will be erased and inspector will be promoted to a.c after 7-8 years. This development has been done keeping in view the aspirations of newly recruited blood who will not tolerate to be in same grade throughout his/her life.

i was also not willing to appear for inspector customs interview but now i have changed my mind. IA will appear with full preparation.

It's not about pay scales, first of all! From point of view of salary, these both are equal (get almost the same salary package). Another thing is that, it is Custom/FBR after all. Intelligence in comparison of FBR is a very dull job.
I have a friend in IB working as an AD for the past 3-4 years, and will have his promotion due in a year or so. However, he applied for A/V officer, qualified, and is now doing a die hard preparation to qualify for this job!!!

P.S. It also varies to persons own choices/preference.
