Record of Terrorist Attacks on Pakistani Airports, and several Airbases:
There are 62 Airports in Pakistan and this catalog cover up most of show up attacks on Pakistan Airports. There are dozens of attack events but I pick up some prominent attacks on airports and some bases.
6 February2007:- A suicide bomber detonated his explosives in a parking area outside Airport injuring 5 people at Islamabad airport. 12 August2008:- A bomb targeting a Pakistani Air Force bus carrying personnel from a military base killed 13 people and wounded 11 others on Tuesday on a major road near the center of Peshawar. Taliban forces reportedly took responsibility. 30 March2009:- At least eight police recruits and a civilian were killed when about 10 terrorists attacked the Manawan Police Training School in Lahore near the border with India with guns and grenades on Monday. Security forces regained control of the facility in an operation that lasted for more than eight hours. About 93 cadets and civilians were injured. 23 October2009:- Eight persons, including two PAF security personnel, were killed and 17 others sustained injuries when a suicide bomber exploded himself at a police check-post on the GT Road near the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC),Kamra. This was the fourth major attack on Pakistan Air Force and the second one in Kamra. On the same day, an anti-tank mine planted on the side of a road killed 18 people of a wedding party and injured six others in the Baizai tehsil of Mohmand Agency And 15 people were injured in bombing outside a restaurant in the Hayatabad area of Peshawar. 18 March 2010:- Loud blast heard near Lahore airport. A loud blast is reported to have been heard near Allama Iqbal International airport, Geo News reported Thursday. Chaotic activity was witnessed at the airport immediately after the blast, creating panic in the surrounding area sources said. 22 May 2011:- The PNS Mehran attack was an attack/shooting by Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Al Qaeda which took place, at PNS Mehran, the headquarters of the Pakistan Navy's Naval Air Arm and the most populous Pakistani military installation. It is located near the PAF's Faisal Air Force Base of Karachi, Sindh. In the course of the event, 15 attackers killed 18 military personnel and wounded 16 in a sophisticated terrorist attack.Two American-built P-3C Orion surveillance aircraft were destroyed. August 16 2012:- Tehrik-i-Taliban militants staged an attack on the Kamra Air Base of the Pakistan Air Force in Attock, Punjab. One security official was killed in the exchange while all eight militants who participated in the attack were shot dead by security forces. The TTP claimed the attack was in revenge for the deaths of Baitullah Mehsud and Osama bin Laden. 15 December 2012:- Pakistan airport attack was a coordinated assault by a team of terrorists who tried to enter Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar, Pakistan. It is the first attack at a civilian airport in Pakistan, officials said. 8 June 2014:- 10 militants armed with automatic weapons, a rocket launcher, suicide vests, and grenades attacked Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Pakistan. 36 people were killed, including all 10 attackers, and 18 others were wounded. 10 June 2014:- just two days after the airport attack, two to four unidentified militants opened fire near an Airports Security Force academy in Pehlwan Goth, Karachi. 15 August 2014:- 13 reported militants tried to storm two Pakistan Air Force bases; Samungli Airbase and Khalid Airbase in Southwest city of Quetta, Baluchistan. The attack was foiled by security officials that resulted in 12 militant deaths, while 12 people were injured including one attacker and 11 security officials. PAF Base Samungli is a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) airbase located near Quetta Airport, in the Balochistan province of Pakistan 16 December 2014:- Peshawar school attack: At least 132 children among over 141 killed by Taliban militants who stormed an army-run school in Peshawar city. Seven militants were also killed during the SSG rescue operation. 30 august 2015:- At least two engineers were killed on Sunday as a result of a militant attack on Jiwani aiport, near the Pak-Iran coastal border in Balochistan's Gwadar district. 18 September 2015:- Heavily-armed militants attacked the Pakistan Air Force base Badaber in Peshawar this morning, killing 29 people, says PAF spokesperson. These included 16 worshippers at a mosque located inside the base camp while three PAF technicians and an army captain were also killed battling with militants. |
