Default MOD Job Info

Dear All

There are bits and pieces of information about the job of AD MoD on this forum, but no thread has comprehensive info. Or maybe i have not been able to find one.

Can any member share first hand information( themselves or from someone serving/served) about the training process, salary, and nature of work for AD MoD.

Training process is unknown. Salary of AD, after training is around 63K, generally along with accommodation and vehicle (depends on nature and place of posting). Nature of Job is diverse, primarily relates to Intelligence functions in best defence of the country. Furthermore you can be benefited from Here.

I am seeking opinion from those who have served in MOD or have a close friend or relative who is or has served in MOD. I am currently working in private sector at middle management and drawing a package of 150K + with loads of international travel as well. I have been had the passion to do such job or CSS and have pursued it well but now i have put in 5-6 years in private sector and achieved a lot of success. Can experienced seniors suggest if its worth joining MOD in this situation. Please only objective opinion from people with first hand facts. Thanks in advance

Definitely not, in your case. You already described your situation as 'successful'. The vanity of the public sector may wear off soon enough if it was merely a 'passion', which we so often mistake as 'I want this so bad' instead of 'I need it so bad'. I might be totally off, and correct me if I am, but I personally wouldn't risk a good career in times like these.

If you want to serve the country and actually help people in plight, while sacrificing your own time, peace of mind and a handsome salary package as yours, then go for MoD. It will bring you more pleasure than anything in the private sector. But do know that not everything goes according to how you envision it.

The decision is yours! Good luck

@mrkhansaab the passion is there but then they say money makes the mayor go.... and i have still not been able to know what sort of roles can there be in this job.... and the fact is that in public sector you are not rewarded for your performance..... every AD after 5 years will become DD and have same salary... To be honest till now i have not been able to get a confirmed word from any "insider" or close enough person about the exact pay/benefit package of this service and that's what is making it hard to decide. So again a request to those who have first hand info please share

It really depends on why do you think you are going to join MOD.The exact nature of the job can only be found out after you join it.However,an AD in MOD will perform different roles, ranging from admin to some duties which demand the ultimate sacrifice.Few days back an AD MOD was martyred in Balochistan. So you should keep in your mind all the aspects before joining. If you are deeply passionate about serving the motherland then this job is for you.Personally I feel we all have to go someday in our graves;it is much better to go honourably as a martyr than as a sick old man turning in his bed.In addition to that this job will most probably have long working hours.Everyone has to think about his/her own situation before taking a major decision.Best of luck whichever way you head for brother.
