Default Phase III / MoD

Hi everyone, hope the candidates who appeared for the descriptive test performed well.
Please share your experience WRT the quality of content you wrote, the problems or mental blockades you encountered, word count etc.

Furthermore, would request people who appeared in MoD-2023 psychometric assessment to share tips, doís and donts etc.

Descriptive paper was of medium difficulty.
Essay paper had 2 literary essays as per MOD's traditions.
Paper 2 had some questions reflecting change in political scenario of Pakistan (Rise of populism, and Lawfare).
It is expected that descriptive result will be out within a month.
For Psychometric, I have consulted those who could not make it and also those who were able to get through it. Some General guidelines are:
- Do not be overconfident.
- Adopt the 'To the point' approach in the interviews with I/O and Psych.
- Try to show positive aspects in WAT, Sentence completion and picture story. A tip in this regard is to pre-define a theme on which your answers should be placed. Like if one chooses theme of 'rule of law', then in WAT, if words like 'peace' or 'crime' come, one should make phrase according to context of rule of law.
Hope for the best. This year, total 15 seats are for AD. So, the process would be quite fast. That means, one should start preparation of Psychometric from today if one is hopeful about Descriptive result.

Well, the descriptive exam wasn't too difficult in my opinion, nevertheless, I personally experienced 2 issues:
1. Issues with writing pace as my wrist was inflamed.
2. In Paper A-2, I did experience a mental block of sorts with regard to how to frame the answers (limited answer sheets and questions as well, I believe). I personally did not find the opportunity to mention references n stuff in Paper A-2 as much as I wanted, though I did use the jargon where it was relevant.
As much as I wanted to take the same approach as CSS, I couldn't get it done for some reason. That's my biggest regret.

As far as the result of the descriptive is considered, it will be within a month, or right after Eid-ul-Adha at most. (asked the MoD in-charge of my exam centre)

Still think that I should prepare a bit for the next phase. Shouldn't give up the hope entirely, I think.

Well yes writing pace was indeed a common issue. Managed to write an essay of only 1950-75 words. How many words did you manage to write just BTW?
Secondly, I personally dont think mentioning references wouldve made a big difference as from what Iíve heard, the descriptive exam is just to check the general writing and comprehension ability of the candidates and honestly I am yet to see someone failing the descriptive exam unless its taken ABSOLUTELY as a joke.

I managed to write up an Essay of 1600+ words however, I'm satisfied with my essay because it was as comprehensive as I could get it to be.. (I've set the same length for CSS essay as well because trying to reach the word limit killed my 1st attempt)

Yes, you are correct. I've also heard by many that their focus is more on finding candidates who can put forth their opinions in good English expression. My Precis went well as well. It's just that sometimes, you become your own greatest competition.

Anyways, what are we doing about the next phase now? Any ideas on how to prepare for it? I think we should start working on it as it will help us with many things, regardless of whether we get called for the next phase (InSha Allah) or not.

Awaiting your response...

For the next phase, try practicing WAT and other questions like favourite personality, likes dislikes, hobbies, strengths weaknesses. Make sure that you thoroughly practise these areas as they can be verified at the time of final interview.

Onto that already... that said, how are you preparing for the Physical Abilities Test? I workout regularly but I've never jumped some 3 ft high bar... that is a bit concerning because I came to know that PAT performance matters as well.

Jumping a 3 ft bar isnt the only thing. There are other obstacles such as passing through a tire and jumping over a 7 ft ditch aswell that too in a limited time frame. If youíre physically active you can pass most of the obstacles.
