i know just few
adz being civilian officers working under military setup have to stay limited to their moves and decisions. i heard that adz may have to work under a major ranked (18-grade) military officer. they have to ask their military bosses for every small decision and move they take, plus their job is mainly administration based vastly related to report making n things. besides ths, adz or ddz dont get fast promotions, promotions are hell slow... well dear the gud part is that adz are tagged with name isi, this is something which makes them appear little pleased as it gives them an edge on other civilian officers of their grade or upper.. shall share more info if i get it.. n u too, do share if ya get it.. thnx |

Dear Polaris,
As far as I know from quite a few personels in ISI is that it is a semi-military organisation. There are some wings strictly for military while others are operated by civilians who go up to the rank of ADG (20 grade). These wings include JIX (office work for coordination of intelligence and admins), JCIB and JIB. These wings have other sub department dealing with other different field, viz. media etc. Bear in mind that army officials may be admitted to civilians departments, while civilians can only be tranfered to pure military departments on unique cases, should a need arise to use the special capabilities of the civilian personels. As far as the scope of the work involved is concerned, I must say it is very vast and unlimited. Espionage has no boundaries and you might have to change your identity and reside in any part of the world in any field. However, on a regular basis many civilians are posted as secy in pak embasies abroad or to other departments viz. FIA, NAB etc for the purpose to gather intelligence. Now there is no shame in serving under military perosonel should one be appointed as one's superior, as the things you would learn from him would adorn your experience, which would assist you in climbing the hierarchy of the organisation. Keep in mind a boss will always be a boss whether civil or military. As far as promotion is concerned, it is totally merit based owing to the efforts you put in and how efficient you are. If you are a lazy bum you might take decades to get elevated while if you perform according to your requirements then it wouldnt take you long to get promoted. Thus it is totally up to us how we perform. The organisation deals with sensitive matters thus you need to operate freely WITHIN the specified parameters, but it does not mean that you would be asking your superior to take a piss in the toilet or whether to go meet your uncle or not :p. To sum it up, joining this magnificent organisation would be an honour as you would gain interesting experiences and deal with matters that would be beyond the imagination of common men. You would reach a stage of enlightment where you would rise above all to serve the best interests of the country and extricate yourself from the material wants of the world. Hope this makes clear to all aspirants who wish to join this elite organisation. Cheers |

the job in a truly globally famed org: ISI
the views by jisran are very well informed and current. there are many misconceptions prevailing regarding this job. these misconceptions are founded on the views of the old lot working in ISI who saw tough times in the org. the things have seen a sea change now. first of all the nuisance value ISI carries is unmatched and un paralelled in our country. a person who is on an officer level in this org is definitely something. i myself have seen people going in this org and becoming something out of nothing. secondly this is the only job in pak which is better than many groups of css. there are many things which cannot be shared on a public forum regarding the immense value of working in this org. u serve your country while being well informed, you only have to share everything only with ur immediate boss. its not like that of civil services in which a multitude of bosses ranging from petty political workers of ruling party to people who actually are your bosses.
i never understands the logic that army has an upper hand in ISI, dont we know that our mighty army has a final say in each and every important decision of our country. why people forget that pakistan has seen in most of its life the military rule. people from css do not share the things they face in their ofices with each and everyone they come across because they have to maintain a semblence of pomp and show which is a hallamrk of civilian bureaucracy, otherwise u know who calls the shots. i will recommend that whoever gets this jo he/she must join it with full commitment and do not lend ear to false temptations and misguide by anyone. One should thank Allah for giving a chance to lead a lion's life with full intgrity and honesty. what a real bliss it is to get all the facilities without giving ur children a morsel from ill earned money. serve ur country without the fear of people who are actually insincere with pakistan. plz confirm before saying anything wrong about the job because int his case u can affect anyone's decision. ISI offers every facility but demands full devotion with work. if anyone knows now the officers whoo were inducted as IOs are now in 21 grade. if Allah gives someone this job do jooin it |

No problem guys, we all are here to share our knowledge, arent we
The pay package would be the same as for any other 17 grade officer and training takes around one year. |

the pay and perks
rightly said by jisran that pay is exactly the same as any other 17 grade officer
in addition to it IS allowance is also paid in Sindh as like army and police officers moreover, vehicles are never a problem for officers of isi especialy when they are posted in field and that too prados and vigos in HQ conveyance is usualy limited to pick and drop, as the case in any other deptt's HQ such as CPO for a psp regards |

thanks everyone. i don't know whether you guyz are working in the organization or not but what you have mentioned here is pretty much the same i heard from a Deputy Director currently working at the organization's HQ. but one thing he added. he said if you couldn't get a good group in the css then AD(MoD) is the best among the rest of other alternatives (in pakistan, of course). as far as salaries are concerned, its a bit more than those of the same grade in other civilian depts. although never came out clearly about the nature of the organization, i mean whether its a civilian or military one, but we all know its VERY MUCH military. so guyz in my knowledge the military chaps get bit more salaries as other civilian officers in other depts. the best thing i love about this job is that one get legal money alongwith all other perks and privileges. its very hard for officers of other departments of same grade to get their deputation in the organization but its not that difficult for ppl working in the organization to get their deputations in almost any departments. you don't have to be flattering around your little chubby bosses to get promotions or transfers as is the case in civil services. promotions are purely on merit basis. and yes there are certain restrictions on the officers selected movements, e.g. public gatherings. these are the things i've learnt from my source in the organization.
thanks regards |
