Salary of an AD is 60k + additional allowance as per his/her station and nature of task. Nature of their job provides conveyance, accommodation, and support staff.
Assalamulaikum, Sir Raz you are absolutely right. An A.D of ISI gets 60 thousands salary, conveyance, accommodation and sub-ordinates for assistance. Moreover, field work is the motive of this job. An absolute option for those who wish to exercise powers and wish to use the Heavy name of being an ISI official. Yet, somehow, a respectable job for a dignified life.

Regards

What kind of work does this jobs entails esp for women?

I know information related to ISI is hard to get but I would appreciate if any member share with us the ratio of male-female in ISI .

I am really motivated to apply but ISI is so notoruiusly popular so I am bit reluctant too .

Is it field job or desk job ?

Civilians life in ISI is far different than those in civil services. Two of my siblings have been serving in this department for the last 7 years and are posted as DD now. You can't compare ISI officers' privileges with those of civil services (not even with those in lowers groups like postal or railways). You have two postings in field usually throughout your career (different in few cases). Accommodation in fields is a huge problem as separate houses and residences are occupied by your Commanding officer (usually Lt Col or retired Major). So you have to live in a chicken coop like apartment No cook, dedicated driver or servant. However, when you are on a desk posting (Islamabad), getting a house is more than impossible. But if you get a house in Islamabad, you are luckiest man on earth. They have really good houses for officers in here. Honestly, no mentionable perks or previliges for civil officers in ISI. My brother himself recommended me to go for CSS instead of joining MoD So, my purpose here is not to offend anyone; my statements may be wrong for a few cases but I mentioned my(siblings) experience. All hail CSS

As I mentioned, every civilian happens to get 2-3 field postings throughout his career (excluding ladies, they stay on the desk throughout their service). After passing out from NDIA (National Defense Intell Academy), all AD's are posted out to fields where they usually work as 2nd in command under an Army officer. This routine goes for all field postings except in some cases where Deputy Directors and new Directors command a small station. The nature of work depends on the nature of each individual and the station they are posted to. For example, in FATA and other terrorism hit areas, they officers have to keep regular check over the areas and have to inform concerned security forces i.e police, army, FC, Levis etc in case of a suspect. There is no way these officers can take part in any operations neither are they trained for it. When they are posted in desk i.e Islamabad, its quite an easy 9-4 job.

@saksare you said A.D ISI don't do operations but last year an A.D ISI Usama Lashari got shadat during an operation. How??
And another thing the army person gave salami during his funeral.I thought ISI personnel were quietly buried without any military salami to conceal their identity?
