AD Mod qualifiers-a request how to attempt theoritical questions?

I appeared in AD mod test. I am not that much weak in theoretical questions' attempting. Although I was failed in the test. I attempted five questions to the point. But the length of each question that I attempted was more than 400 words. I discussed outlines in my own words and gave facts and figures and used marker pen for statistics. As far as mcqs are concerned, I think I attempted more than 35 plus answers correctly. But result is decleared that I am failed. What went wrong? Hence, qualifiers are requested please share your experience, how did you make possible to pass the first phase:

Please share your question attempting way, which pens did you use; either you attempted with two diffierent colors or only one. What was the length your answer, did you attempt every question with paragraphs or essays with outlines? How did you attempt that question with given outlines-please give a simple example what you had attempted in your test. Moreover, mention your correct mcqs which you attempt and the way of theoretical answering so that we can prepare for the coming test according to the right way.

I hope you will guide juniors comprehensively.

Thanks.

I also appeared and failed in the test contrary to my expectations. I usually don't get results against my expectations and this was a rare experience thus. However, there might be flaws in my attempting the "short paragraph" questions which can only be highlighted if any successful candidates comes up to explain how he or she had attempted them. In the MCQs portion, I believe at least 65% of the total were absolutely correct. Therefore the points to ponder are about the "short paragraph";

Did the successful candidates give a proper outline before starting the paragraph
Did they use multiple paragraphs and headings
Did they use multiple color pens or they attempted the questions in a simple and single color pen
What else was unique in their paragraph writing (statistics, quotations and anything else)

I and so many others are eager to know where the difference came in. Otherwise I am being declined to believe that some mishap has occurred because I usually get calls for interviews wherever I go for an initial test, and this time the result is showing "failed" in both the "AD" and the "Staff Grade" exams. It is unbelievable for me..

Yaar I did nothing of the above. I simply penned down my opinion on things, no quotations, no paragraphs, no multiple pens, no statistics, no headings, no nothing, and I passed. I stayed within the word limit though, except on one question.

Apparently they wanted peoples' opinions, not how much statistics or quotations they can remember.

my answers were not typical like in books but were based on factual events that are being occurred in region specially in Afghanistan and Middle East. use accurate dates, personality names with their Quotes if possible. i gave some detail some sort of Relations between Local and International Establishments. My focus was more on Pak-US,India, Iran and Afghan Relations that gone too far with speed. sheets were filled more than twice and remained very limited in other questions like Poverty,Energy crisis and WTO

Time was bit shot against attemptation of five questions so I remained quite simple in writing, wrote according to outline described.i opted for general pattern in attempting the questions:
1.introduction(after careful reading of outline,I put all the key points in intro)
2.main crux or in detailed answering(now explaining all the points in outline, one paragraph for one point and so on)
3.conclusion(now presenting my point of view, just few lines or critical analysis, sum up)
Now there were some things that helped me a lot as follows:
1.plenty of knowledge triggered by css preparation and my education background.
2.practice of past mod papers(I practiced it according to good time management)
3.a dandy time management(I took digit watch, divided the total time on questions, and tried to remain under scheduled time frame)
Last but not least luck factor can not be undermined, with the belief that Allah has devised something better for me,,,

35+ mcqs were correct. first 2 questions took one and half sheet that might becomes 15 pages without heading, headlines, outline etc. these questions were Pak US,India,Iran Relations, and Afghan Issue. Rest of 3 questions covered hardly 2 pages.

irfan latif Tuesday, May 13, 2014 10:08 AM

I got my 38 to 40 McQs correct;attached two extra sheets;on average 3 to 5 pages per question for first three questions while 2 to 2.5 questions for last two questions.i remember my last question was running almost incomplete while having only last five minutes but I tried two make a short synopsis or outline putting same facts or figures in billeted form, the question was poverty....
I was satisfied after attempting paper bez I never deviated from the asked outline, discussed each and every point, putted my past knowledge where it was needed and the scheduled intro, middle and conclusion at the end,,,

I am from Peshawar. No preparation at all but Alhmadulilah i have cleared it and it was due to my prior experience of css which really helped me out in the subjective portion of short essays.

jisne 300 words tak apna paragrapgh restrict kiya, woh pass hogaya, jisne 2,3 sheets fill kareen woh bhe pass hogaya,
jisne subtitle show kiye woh bhe pass, jisne without heading attempt kiya, woh bhe pass.

then what was the criteria of passing this test??? :D

i think sab k papers check he nhi kiye hain, jiska paper haath lag gaya oska paper check krdia, pasand agaya to pass warna fail :laughing

pasand ki baat hai, otherwise criteria kuch bhe nhi tha pass honay ka :D
