I think syllabus of SPSC is somewhat different from PPSC but you should check both.

Book: urdu compulsory by Ahmad Najeeb.
Pattern of paper:
Essay: 25 marks
Translation of Poetry: 25 marks
Precis writing: 25 marks
Translation of English Quotes and phrases: 10 marks
Translation of English paragraph: 15 marks

As all paper is general except poetry so I am describing poetry section only.
Poetry syallbus:
Famous poetic lines of famous poets e.g.
Iqbal, Ghalib, Haali, Faiz, Meer dard, Meer Taqi & Aatish.
