My Journalism Test..........

[b]My dear Journalism paper was set up on which criteria i dont understand.
During master in Journalism ( Mass communication we are
enlighten
Subjects like:

Designing of News paper

National International Affairs

Media History

Public relations

Advertising.

TV Production

News Techniques and Trend.

Communication I

Communication II

Research

Development support Communication.

Editorial Feature And column Writing.

Electronic Journalism. or

thesis on any chosen topic
So was that exam about these concepts?
the whole paper was like history paper.
Journalism is not all about history it covers lots of extent
but that paper was more similar like History or Pakistan Study paper.

All of my journalism fellows have seen that paper. so now easily you all can judge that in which proportion paper was divided?

i don't think that this criteria should be adopted while paper setup.when judging knowledge of candidates.
just history is important?

when we have been enlighten then focus was not on just Media History but now when exam is about PPSC the PPSC's Criteria is very rueful.

bakwasss paper

in my views, this exam is the exam of rote learning or mugging.
no conceptualization is there.
only dates, names and place relation is tested in journalism paper.
who publish which paper, on what date, from which city, when the government is established, when broken, who made the law, who give the definition.
is this the only stuff necessary for a future?

I do not know about other subjects, but the paper of journalism is not up to the standards of lecturers.

Bakwasssssssssssss paper......

I do not know other will agree with me or not, but this is my point of view about the lectureship paper.

[B]i Agree with you dear

the paper was really useless.
all focus was on history.
i don't understand why so much focused on history. I believe this is reason of our so bad education system as we are instructed to focus on history, no concern with present.

journalism was a nothing paper, this is not a way to select a lecturer for journalism, well i had been not on net, half of the paper was of Pak Studies, half was rubbish type general knowledge,i had not been using net from the last 3 days thats why i am giving my views now, what this paper was about? no question from reporting, no question from research method, no question from communication theories, no question from development journalism, no question from development support communication, it was rubbish, how this paper was measuring some one's talent for being a lecturer??
half of the paper was of pak study, i request you and others to raise voice on this, at least in future ppsc should not set paper like this
if pakistan studies and general knowledge were part of the syllabus for journalism then you simply can't raise any voice but if something was out of syllabus or pattern then you should do something
but as far as i know pakistan studies is very much part of journalism and general knowledge is tested in every one paper test conducted by ppsc

i also opted the journalism paper and hav same views like all others.few questions wer too general tht most of the people usually knw e.g. capton in 92 match, mohammad bin qasim invasion date to subcontinent and date of qau 14 points ... but still these questions have no relevance wth any of the core area of journalism.they asked us to attemt a total irrelevant paper and now they will deduct our marks by negative marking...

PPSC crash-lands candidates -Journalism lecturer Paper

The Nation

LAHORE – Candidates, appearing in a test on Saturday to become future lecturers, found themselves in a fog thick as pea soup. The Mass Communication paper, set by the Punjab Public Service Commission, was out of the course outline of journalism taught at both graduate as well as postgraduate levels in our universities.
It may be mentioned here that the PPSC had arranged tests in four subjects. They included Journalism, Sociology, Physical Education and Punjabi. The examination for recruitment of about 2,500 lectures which had started on September 23 will end on September 29.
The 100 marks’ paper of Journalism, comprising MCQs of one mark each, mainly pertained to the history. It did not touch the core subjects of News Technique, Design of News Pages, Media History, National & International Affairs, Communication I &II, Public Relations, Development Support Communication, Editorial, Feature and Column Writing, Advertising, Magazine Journalism or Writing Practices.
It was later learnt that instead of assigning the task of paper setting to a qualified person or a media practitioner, the PPSC had assigned the paper to a man who holds a PhD degree in History. So, the candidates have urged the authorities to hold re-examination so that the competent personnel could be recruited for the posts.
“At least four MCQs were related to cricket background. I was surprised when he (paper setter) asked to reply answer as who was the bowler, whose sixth ball was hit by Javed Miandad,” a candidate Sajjad said. He said it seemed the paper was set by any irrelevant person; perhaps having history background otherwise a professor from Journalism department could never do such wrongdoing with his students of media. “Around 60 percent question paper based on history, pre partition and post partition Pakistan Affairs and such other things,” he added.
Moreover, the candidates protested against the PPSC administration, terming it a criminal act. Some of the candidates even went on to protest in T-Center at BISE Examination Center on Lawrence Road and refused to attempt the question paper. Mostly candidates left the paper incomplete and some of them un-attempted and walked out from the examination center.
Cursing the PPSC, they said the administration had committed a criminal act by doing so otherwise never in the history such paper was sent for regular classes or any competitive exams. “I have already attempted CSS but no such paper I ever gone through,” another candidate commented. They demanded the exam should be re-conducted.
