No i think its starting period is 18th century...because first Gothic novel written was '' Castle of Otranto '' by Horace Walpole.It was written in 1764.And '' Monk '' by Mathew Lewis in 1796.

n other famous novels in this category were later additions in 19th century..for example Jane Eyre in 1847 and Wuthering Heights in 1847 too.Frankenstein in 1818.

So Gothic novel started in late 18th but became famous genre in 19th C.

@ tooba m definitely a gal but i do not use skype that much... as far as interview was concerned, there were three panels, each askin questions in different ways. the group that interviewed me consisted ov 4 people. they asked wat i have studied and teaching practices.
but the key factor ov my success, i believe so, was that i made them to think ov questions different from what they had with them. my spoken was a definite charm, they noticed it well. i discussed anthills of the savannah by achebe in detail... was direct and blunt and not apologetic abt anything.
i consciously catered one thing: not to utter any term to impress them, abt which i was not sure.

As far as I remember and I copied on my paper,"comedy" wasn't specifically mentioned.

Well I agree with others it was insane step to introduce mcqs type paper as it's a cruel joke with the competent candidates.Lecturers are supposed to elaborate their concepts in context of syllabus not to teach "mcqs" What they are going to judge ? They need the "best crammer" or the "best tukkay baaz" ? Objection ! Objection !

I agree with all of you people because last time it was comprehensive type paper of 3 hours. I had cleared written test last time without preparation but the thing is that i had clear concepts and did well with analytically reasoning.I don't know how people cram dates and events its really tough for me...its unfair to judge one's skills and ability just by asking historical dates and events etc...Thats why mostly we have good crammer in our education system instead of good teacher with excellent analytically skills. PPSC should change its criteria to judge one's ability and knowledge.
