According to the preset trend of FPSC/PPSC past papers, one should cover each of the following areas:
1. English Literature (Books to be consulted are: Emporium Publishers' MCQs of English Literature,, B.R Mullick's History of English Literature
2. English Grammar Wren & Martin's High School Grammar,
3. Linguistics (Famous publishers' Linguistics' book,)

Along with them, one should try to consult some material for Literary Terms. For this purpose, Dictionary of Literary Terms by Martin Grey is best.
