It is a good move by the FPSC. However, I strongly feel that this is going to be sheer injustice to the science graduates who hate arithmetic and mathematics. The science students already have to face all subjects of general nature in the written exam with boring subjects like forestry botany and zoology as optionals. These subjects have a limited scope too. Not all M.Sc. students have studied these as subsidiary subjects. (this is my opinion as I find them boring...!)
This way the candidates who've banking experience, business or engineering degrees can benefit more from the screening test. I remember while I was preparing for the psych test I had to practice these percentage and series questions which are in no way my cup of tea. And this won't be the concern of bio masters like me only. It will be a problem for bachelors or masters in arts too. Just when we have the MCAT tests we don't have maths in that. I hope fpsc has thought about these issues as well. Anyhow, whatever is being done is being done for a better Pakistani bureaucracy. But I hope the FPSC is flexible enough to address these concerns of candidates after they screen out for the v. First time in September. I just wish they dont make the in-service officers take the screen test. After all they have already grilled them enough. They are already half dead

There would be two papers MCQ type. This pattern was forwarded to acting DMG officers for suggestions. So I know from one of my friend of 38th common.

Quota?
Will it be quota based? Or, anyone who passes it will be eligible for CE-2014, regardless of any quota?

Great move by FPSC to filter out number of candidates for written exam.
However they should have put FAQs section on their site because there are many unanswered questions now and if anyone can answer them please answer them along with source. 1 Will screening out test count as an attempt? Or only taking part in real test will be counted as one of the three attempts? 2 Is the cut off date for calculating AGE of candidate whether he/she meets minimum or maximum age criteria still 31st December or is it changed to last date of submitting screening test forms now? Which is somewhere in August. 3 And yea they have not mentioned passing marks clearly so will they set a benchmark for each province separately? Like passing marks will be set depending on results of candidates from each province (like NTS does in most cases) |

FPSC is out of its mind. In spite of making the recruitment process more relevant and constructive, they are adding frivolous things to it.Now one has to wait for 2 years that he has not been selected in DMG,PSP and FSP. Oh my God take pity on us.What a wastage of time.
Now everybody will plan to appear in this preliminary exam and the number of candidates in this preliminary exam will shoot up. English and Maths contain 40% of the paper that is not at all good for people who have studied from small govt schools in villages and having medical and social studies background. This is a step towards accepting more people from top english medium schools like i.e LGS, Beaconhouse, etc. FPSC is already exposed with Faisalabad scandal.Just think how easy it will be to manipulate result of one paper. How easy it will be to find its answer key.I am sure this will lead towards more corruption. Regards

This is a complete waste of time. They should have reduced the number of compulsory subjects from the written portion at least; there is no need to test candidates for same subjects over and over again.
And what about the candidates who have already passed the written and the interview? Why should they take this so called eligibility test? I really don't get it. Fpsc already has the 600 marks criteria in the written and not many go through it, only around 1000 lucky ones make it to the interview. Someone here rightly pointed out the dilemma of some subjects scoring high and other hitting low, well to counter that problem they should appoint more examiners for the subjects which are opted by many candidates, or they should turn the optional subjects to the mcq types with one descriptive question. Ok the commission has a right to make decision regarding fair conduct and the results but they should make wise decisions. I, and many others, am completely disappointed with this good for nothing decision. I think government should recruit officers to fpsc from CSS so that wise decisions may be made, and this humbugness may be put an end to. |
