Sindh Senior Minister of Education Distributed Offer Letters

Sindh Senior Minister for Education, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, and Secretary Education, Fazlullah Pechuho, attended an inaugural ceremony today to launch a Student Registration Drive in all talukas of district Shaheed Benazirabad. The main purpose of the drive is to build a database of student records to better monitor their enrollment, retention, dropout and transfer between schools. This data will also lead to a more efficient allocation of resources in the distribution of textbooks, allocation of School Management Committee funds, teacher rationalization etc.

Approximately, 24,000 students are expected to be enrolled in Class 1 in district Shaheed Benazirabad in the academic year 2013/14. In the first phase of the Registration Drive, enrollment cards will be distributed to schools and the data of these students will be collected. Education & Literacy Department will involve its field officers at the taluka level (Assistant District Officers and Supervisors) and School Head Master/ Mistresses for the implementation of this exercise. These officers participated in an orientation workshop today where they were informed about the purpose of the Drive, method of filling the enrollment cards, card distribution and collection procedures etc.

The occasion also marked the establishment of a PTCL network connection between the district education office in Nawabshah and the Secretary’s office in Karachi. The connection will allow data entry of student enrollment cards from Nawabshah district office via a web-based form. This data will be collected in a central database at the Secretary’s office in Sindh Secretariat. This network will later be used to computerize other district education office and Local Support Unit (LSU) functions such as data collection from schools, teacher postings etc.

[B]Sindh Senior Minister of Education also distributed offer letters to 104 High School Teacher (HST) candidates from 6 districts of Hyderabad region. Appointment has been made solely on merit and on the basis of need. Each offer letter contains a unique bar code to avoid any forgery.[/B]
