Blundering SPSC Screening Test (THE NATION)
January 01, 2015 SHARE :
On 28th Dec 2014, the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) conducted a screening test, approximately 25000 candidates simultaneously sat for the exam from Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur centers. The paper was based on 100 MCQs with 90 minutes time. Those who got 50% or more would be eligible to appear in the Combine Competitive Examination. The candidates were allowed to take carbon copy of answer sheet with them and the answer key was uploaded on SPSC website so that the candidates could check their result on the same day.
However, this screening test proved to be a nightmare for talented and hardworking candidates. As per the syllabus given by SPSC it was mentioned that 20% marks would be given to Islamiat, but to our surprise not a single MCQ was from the subject. Most of the questions were rather silly questions, such as two years ago British Prime Minister visited Pakistan in which month?
The ordeal did not end here, the answer keys also had serious mistakes. It is pertinent to mention here that the result was made on the basis of those answers keys that was full of errors. There were also numerous English grammar mistakes, everyday science, general knowledge were wrongly asked and their answers were also wrongly mentioned in the keys. Those who made blind guess must have passed the exams and those who worked hard have failed. It is sad to see that for such a high level exams the SPSC did not find a suitable person who could have made an intelligent error-free paper. We request the CM Sindh and Chairman SPSC to re-take the exam with proper question paper and with correct answer keys.
VICTIMISED CANDIDATES,
Karachi, December 30.
