SYLLABUS OF WRITTEN EXAMINATION FOR THE SELECTION OF
POST OF MUKHTIARKAR


PAPER I. ENGLISH GENERAL

Time duration will be of 3 hours. From 10.00 A.M. to 1.00 P.M. Maximum marks 100. The paper will consist of not
more than six questions. The standard of examination will be of gradational level.
• Essay writing. Essay on general topic extending over not more than 200 words.
Précis writing. A passage consisting of 150 words in English will be given for précis. Candidates will be
required to give a suitable heading to the précis and questions will be asked on the given passage.
• Translation. Separate passages will be given for translation from English to Sindhi/Urdu and from
Sindhi/Urdu to English. The passage will include phrases and words to test candidate’s knowledge of proficiency
in languages and vocabulary.
• English language Grammar including punctuation, direct and indirect speech, active and passive voice,
prepositions, articles, infinitives, comparatives and superlatives, word choice and redundancy, “filling in the
blanks”, correcting incorrect sentences, questions on parts of sentence, common idioms and phrases.
• Spellings, meaning of words (Thesaurus) and their correct usage in sentences.

PAPER II. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE

Time duration will be of 90 minutes only. From 03.00 P.M. to 4.30 P.M. Maximum marks 100.
The paper will consist of 100 multiple Choice Questions (M.C.Qs.) for which separate question paper containing M.C.Qs
and a specially designed sheet containing 4 boxes for each question will be provided. The candidate will be required to
staple question paper along with specially designed sheet. The appropriate box will have to be TICKED.
Multiple Choice Questions will include questions on Pakistan studies, Islamic studies, Current affairs,
Everyday Science, History, Geography, Simple question on English, Sindhi and Urdu literature.
