Ok, now I'm confused about my optional subjects... help required by my dear fellow members. :bow

I had almost made my decision to opt for IR+Public Administration+Islamic History I as my subjects, but am having second thoughts due to the following reasons. Kindly comment and substantiate if you agree/disagree.

1. I am considering dropping out either IR or Public Administration in favor of Islamiat, reason being that I feel that Islamit and Islamic History share the syllabus of atleast 25% which will onviosuly complement each other in terms of preparation. Does my assumption hold credense of Im worng in this notion of mine?

2. If above is correct, then which subject should I drop? IR or Pub Adm? I have a masters degree in IR, and enrolled for PhD. I went through the syllabus and found it quite easy to prepare, The IR course is still lengthy, and as someone put it correctly, its evolving and opinion based as well, and the checker may not give me marks if he/she doesnt concor with my point of view.

3. I started studying Pub Ad from a book and its quite interesting and the syllabus is short, BUT CONFUSING!! confusing in the sense that after looking at the syllabus and trying to locate those topics from the books is not easy. If I can haver this sorted out, I may retain Pub Ad and drop IR.

Sorry for the lengthy post but you guys give great advise :)... plus it gives me a chance to express myself in English and that will help me in essay writting as well. :D aik teer mey do shikaar :D

Thanks in advance guys.

Frankly speaking this is a common case with nearly all aspirants. To carve out a heart content scheme of optional subjects is the first barricade on their way to success. Nothing to worry, as it follows a simple principle in vogue, ”More the choices, more the confusion”.
A number of contradicting ideas rush into mind when the offered subjects are self-judged in different aspects. A candidate turns desperate and seeks suggestions. Logical arguments and differing recommendations received from the mentors in response, further worsen the indecisive state of mind.
This is exactly when he finds himself boggled and his repose lost. But I must tell you this is not a hell big deal. It’s something natural and needs to be naturally resolved.

Go for the subject that first lures your interest. If you find some serious imperfection in it later on, give chance to the second one in order. No doubt your previous knowledge and experience help you a great deal in this matter.
As for as public Ad is concerned I may link you to some relevant thread. It might be helpful.
Here you go……
No for Islamiat you have to refer particular book which covers the syllabus of the islamiat as well.

1. Usually University issues the date of announcement certificate with the signature of the Controller of examination, SPSC requires that certificate to check the date of the announcement of the Bachelor degree result to determine eligibility. If any of your bachelor degree document like Pass certificate, Marks certificate, degree contains the date of the announcement then its valid and you do not need to submit this type of certificate then.

2. Any character certificate from the last institute attended.
If you appeared and passed the graduation from any degree college, you need to take character certificate from Principal of that college, if you were regular university student then you need to submit character certificate from the Director/chairman person.

3. Two character certificates from any gazetted/Grade-17 officers who know you well.
Dear Ali Malah

Both Character Certificates(from university & Gazetted officer) are compulsory to submit or anyone from them???

Dear both are necessary, if you'll not submit now they'll ask you at the time of scrutiny either before written test or before interview depending on scrutiny policy of SPSC. If you'll not submit now they'll still accept your document do not worry for it, but you have to submit it sooner or later.

Islam at a Glance by Saddar ud din Islahi is the book which I used to refer for Islamiat.

For Islamic History book by K. ALi or Mazhar ul Haq are bets options

Assalam o alikum
Dear Ali Mallah and seniors,
I grabbed "A Short History Of Islam" by Mazhar ul Haq for Islamic History 1. Well the book is too bulky :glare:
According to syllabus:
Islamic History, Period I (i) Pre-Islamic Arabia.
(ii) The holy Prophet and Orthodox Caliph.
(iii) The Omayyad Period.

suggest me the chapters or parts from the book to cover this subject.
Moreover, does this book also covers "Islamiyat" syllabus?? If no then which book I have to refer for "Islamiyat"?
Jazak'ALLAH
