A Fact Unspoken

History repeats itself. Yes, it does.
It was not long ago when Gen. Pervaiz Musharraf (I wont include the president post for him, and I hope to change your minds too after reading the complete article) dismissed the CJ of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Choudhry without any notice, on account of forgery and misuse of his post. There were many other references imposed, but all the still the military regime did not opt for the legal method. The excuse given was that he was a potential threat to the security and sovereignty of the homeland. Every body was so involved in the current happenings that no one pointed out a same case which happened five years back.
It was Musharraf who was dismissed by the then PM Nawaz Shareef, on the similar grounds. Musharraf used his resources, and his force to overwhelm the orders of the elected party. He justified all his acts somehow at that time. He said he was correct, and he stood to it. If he was correct then, he had to be wrong this time, because it was he who was in Shareef’s shoes this time, while CJ was playing Musharraf’s role. The saga of Akbar Bugti, the inferno of Red Mosque, and now the Taliban issue all display the use of force by Musharraf. And then he says he has promoted democracy in Pakistan. I ask him, what kind of democracy is this? A democracy of his wills, or a democracy of army?
He is so democratic that he exiled all the main political figures from the country on accounts of misuse of posts. Has he not misused his own post? Even if we agree that his regime brought stability in the country, and somehow improved the image of Pakistan around the globe, one would ask is he man enough to face his own mistakes? Successes can never justify corruption, and never will. May God bless Pakistan.

@ HUSNI

Please justify the following reasons you have mentioned in your article:

1. ..The excuse given was that he was a potential threat to the security and sovereignty of the homeland... (Where is it given? Plz refer the source)

2. ...Musharraf ...dismissed the CJ of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Choudhry without any notice, on account of forgery... (please clarify where have you read that reference against CJ was because of "forgery"..)

thanks

Forgery means any betrayel to the seat. Most people take forgery solely as 'fake signatures'. But forgery can be used in a vast sense to mean any kind of illegal act that comes under perfidy.

As for the source, Musharraf flagged the opinion that Nawaz manhandled the Army sources in the Kargil war, and was not very vivid with the objectives passed to the army. Which certainly is a threat to national security. A corrupt leader always is a threat.

I hope these clarify your confusions. :)
Afterall you are a senior member.

@Hu$nI
well dear u have made good attempt to show MUSHARAF a corrupt ruler.....
but at the same time you must go for his positive steps.he dismissed cj on account of some reasons,one of which was that he let his son allocated as ASP through his sources and so on.is it legal?????would u like your seat of asp be given to someone only because he has approach????no ,never.if we speak of law then why cj has been restored?????
the reality is that privileged class(either cj or president) thinks itself above law...
and its our legacy of 60 years..
u have rightly said THAT"successes can never justify corruption"
but dear why we make comparison (he is right,he is wrong)when the whole system is corrupt...
and onething more "i m not senior member"
thanx

Waseem gurmani, I wonder what part of the paradise you live in but it's most probably the one safely removed from facts. Chief Justice has been restored by the Supreme Court, repeat, Supreme Court of Pakistan because government was unable to prove any of the allegations against the Chief Justice. Certainly they didn't know the things you seem to know because they never presented the facts in the court of law that your post implies you have against the Chief Justice's son's illegal promotion.

Chief Justice's restoration by the SC is the only purest and the most solid ray of hope that this country has seen in its entire history. Don't try to besmear this hope with ghosts of your confused imagination.

Well, merely increasing the number of posts in any forum does not make one senior in judgment and competence. I do not consider myself senior. However, it is my right to ask you something which I do not understand so that you may clarify my misconception; might be you are senior, however, having smaller number of posts. I again ask you to clarify my misunderstanding on the same, as your explanation did not satisfy me.

1. Forgery: I have looked up Oxford, Webster, Cambridge, Encarta, Wordweb dictionaries and also the web, but I did not find out the usage of the word that you had mentioned. I would like to say that that word "forgery" is incorrectly placed. However, words like "treachery", "perfidy" etc., are suitable.

2. You avoided to reply my second query about your statement: "The excuse given was that he (Chief Justice) was a potential threat to the security and sovereignty of the homeland.." The thing is that the charges of misconduct and misuse of authority against CJ was not a security and sovereignty issue. It is related to institutional corruption and degradation. Security and sovereignty are affected when a foreign country such as the US interference in our internal affairs.

However, these are very minor mistakes for someone related to only wrong use of words; but in fact, an examiner takes it seriously because they are changing the whole theme of the passage.

thanks

@deviant
bro i would like to go few years back and remind u the case of Dr A.Q khan
he transfrd national assets (nuclear centrifuges) to iran and korea.he was merely removed from his post and no other strict action was taken against him why bacause he gave alot to pakistan.his crime didnt overwhelm his services.thats why he was not punished strictly while few of his collegues are still behind the bars.........same is the case with cj.he has taken some correct decisions and the allegations posed by govt seem meaningless against his career....u cant say all the 16 allegations were not proved by govt.people's emotions have also affected the verdict ....and remember detailed verdict is still to come
"Don't try to besmear this hope with ghosts of your confused imagination"
well brother i didnt request you to agree with me.its my mental approach.
thanx
