Hydel is fraught with environmental, social and political problems. We can't solely depend on Hydel or depend on it permanently. We have spent billions upon billions in nuclear weapons research and development. If only a fraction of that was invested in nuclear and alternative energy technologies over the last thirty years, we would be completely energy independent by now! The energy crisis is closely intertwined with our economic future. It is not just an inconvenience. If Pakistan is to survive as a country, we have to solve this problem pronto!
