It did not said to write it in direct form. It was said that dialogue is written in direct speech. We were not to write as
Said said, "I am working". We need to write it in indirect form that is
Saad told him that he was working.
Dialogue was already in direct form. It was not required to write it again in direct form in shape of paragraph by just decorating it with punctuations.
In 2016, question was exact opposite. It was already in indirect form. It was hell easy to convert it in direct form. In 2016, it was required to write as:
Saad said, "I am working".
