Default Peace Is A Symbol Of Prosperity

PEACE IS A SYMBOL OF PROSPERITY

Peace is a state of affairs in which an individual enjoys peace of mind, groups are at tranquility, society is at rest, social institutions are in harmony with each other, nation is at calm and the State is in state of truce. Such a backdrop allows every individual and unit of society to exercise his right freely and adapt a course of action after giving it due consideration. This applies to state equally. No external force pushes someone in any direction leaving no way out. Hence, in peace individuals, groups, society, nation and State have control over their actions. An individual can put his mental and physical energies in creative work, nation can engage in constructive business and State can focus on development and national welfare and provide good governance. Everyone can invest and cultivate their energies, natural and economic resources at their disposal, in the field from where they can reap good gains and profits. Such a freedom of choice, which is only possible in state of peace, leaves a large field for economic and social gains which subsequently results in innovation, economic growth, development, employment precisely in prosperity for all.

Same is not true for chaos and war!

Deafening blasts, guided cruising missiles, roaring guns, colliding canons, dark smoke clouds, shattered bodies, blood rivers, debris of schools and hospital buildings, destroyed infrastructure, yelling children, crying mothers, dead fathers, confused leaders, crushed economy and disturbed nature…….this is war! War exhausts and consumes a person combatant and non-combatant physically as well as mentally, it exhausts nations, it consumes scarce natural and economic resources. Everything is invested with the sole purpose to wage war and overcome the opponent. This situation produces devastating consequences for everyone.

History is replete with examples of empires losing their prestige and glory, rich nations plunging into abyss and civilizations nose-diving due to waging continuous wars. The great powers and empires of twentieth century Germany, Austria-Hungry and Turkey lost their empires, territories and destroyed their economies as a result of fighting in World War I, Japan turned to ashes in World War II. Once the largest Empire of the world- the Great Britain- in which the Sun never set faced largest defeat and was reduced to its borders as a result of World War II. Oil rich Iraq and Iran could not offer their people good standard of living which their peers enjoy in peaceful neighbor, Genocide, massacre, mass murder and civil war in Somalia, Darfur, Kenya, Angola and other regions of South Africa and war victim Afghanistan do not let their people and governments to exploit their natural resources for their own good and as a result they are caught up in abject poverty and endemic hunger.

Whereas in war there is waste of time, waste of people, and waste of resources but in peace, everything can be properly utilized for the welfare and good of people and nations. Those nations and regions that enjoy unhindered and uninterrupted peace are able to leap forward and make impressive progress and development. We can cite the examples of Japan and Switzerland in this connection. The irony of the matter is that certain nations even wage wars to ensure that they would continue to enjoy the fruits of peace and prosperity. This signifies the utmost importance of peace.
