Definition:
Cyclones are low-pressure areas surrounded by high pressure from all sides. These are circular or elliptical in shape.


Type of Cyclones:
1. Tropical Cyclones
Cyclones that originated and travel in the tropical region are called tropical cyclones.
2. Temperate cyclones
Cyclones that are formed in the temperate regions are called temperate cyclones.

Temperate Cyclones
1. Cyclones originate in temperate land.
2. Cyclones are develop in both land and sea.
3. Develop in winter.
4. Pressure gradient is gentle.
5. Light but wide spread rainfall.
6. Rainfaal is accompanied by hail and snow.


Tropical Cyclones
1. Cyclones originate in tropical land.
2. Cyclones develop on sea and disappear on land.
3. Develop in summer.
4. Pressure gradient is steep.
5. Torrential rainfall on small area.
6. No hail and snow.
