In the era when there is much debate on climate change, the field of meteorology is emerging at international level. But in Pakistan, meteorology is not the priority of government. There are no extra incentives for Pakistan Meteorological Department. No extra allowances, only the basic pay admissible for BS-17 with some necessary allowances are paid. A newly inducted meteorologist gets Rs. 40K plus starting salary. In the department, you will get more chance of higher studies, foreign trainings and chances to switch to international careers.
