Geographic location of any country can be either a permanent blessing or curse for the state depending on where it is located on world political map. The glaring examples of each category can be observed in states of USA and Pakistan. As USA is at distance from the hot waters of geopolitical games, so, it doesn't suffer direct impacts, although, it is an active participant. Whereas, Pakistan is most of the time under burning flames of others' wars due to its strategic location and territorial proximity to danger zone. owing to its geographic location, Pakistan, since its inception, has been looked at, internally as well as externally, through geo strategic prism. But it has not yielded the desired outcomes. therefore, very recently Pakistan has tried to portray itself as a vibrant geo-economic centre. Geo-economic has served well national interests of many advanced and advancing economies around the world including ASEAN and European Union. Due to emphatic focus on geo-economic policy in 21st century, Pakistan also views it viable option for its economic development, social prosperity, national security and integrity. Pakistan's shift from geostrategic to geo economic brings a lot of prospects. But they are not simply low hanging fruits as usually generalized. In fact, mounting challenges need to be overcome properly before enjoying long lasting benefits. Starting with shedding light on the key concepts, this essay will elaborate shinning prospects that are expected to be achieved through the policy shift. It will also identify and gauge the impeding obstacles in the way of policy formulation and implementation. In last, essay will sum up the discussion with outlining some amicable recommendations that will help materialising the vision into reality and ameliorate the anxiety.
